  1. Read your message for help and, although I'm still at work, decided to research a little for you. You may have already seen these sites, but it was worth a shot. http://members.aol.com/soldaten/main.htm (Info and photos: The Second Panzer Division: Vehicles and Equipement: The Second Panzer Division: Information on other German units: Topic of the Month, Comments: History of the 2nd Panzer Division, Links, etc. http://www.bunt.com/~mconrad/links.htm (Europe, Africa and Mediterranean Theater Links, Units, Ships, People, Places, etc. Links, Veterans and Miscellaneous Links, Pacific Theater Links, Collector's Links, Holocaust Links) http://ananke.advanced.org/2634/links.html (links to other world war 2 sites) I can't go any further (like emailing some of the people running these sites for a contact person who was actually in the European fight, but I bet it would be possible.) Good luck - anything else just mention it and I'll try and jump on it! Steve Girten
  2. A little explanation here - after reading 20 turns of the ongoing battle it just concerns me a bit that the armor can't camo itself better - especially from air attack!
  3. Armies have always utilized available cover to hide their assets, so to speak. In countless conflicts, from WW2 to the most recent "Kosovo Crisis", tankers have tried to hide their armor in barns and under cover of thick woods, etc. Will this be supported in the game? (I keep on remembering the scene in "The Big Red One" with Lee Marvin where they take out that tank crew who is parked in the back of some building).
  4. Just wanted to express my thanks for delivering on a mac version of this game. It is unbelieveable just how many games do not have a mac version - seems idiotic to me as there is a fairly large demographic of gamers out there with macs. nuff said.
  5. Is aars a website (did a search and netted nada).
  6. I know its a bit early to mention (maybe) but do you guys have plans to have on your site (or a new one) updaters (maybe for new maps, new camo schemes, new equipment, bug fixes, etc)? Just a thought...
  7. You guys rock - I like the strategy both of you have used thusfar in the game. Can't wait until the next few turns come out...usually print them out and read them at lunch!
  8. Impatiently awaiting Turn 13...how will it turn out? Will the dreaded hun advance and burn the town to the ground - or will our boys fighting for freedom and apple pie win the day for mom and the American way? ...I just can't wait...cracking under the pressure...
  9. Moon - right, it doesn't look like a yawner...I meant chess as in "you'd better thing about what you do before acting on it!
  10. Sorry for the probable redundancy of this question, but when is the demo coming out? Looked at the ongoing game between the two designers and it looks chocked full of detail - this game will be rather chess-like, I believe...
  11. How about some screenshots with explosions, fires and other neat stuff?
  12. Not a clue, dude - although I've read WW2 documentary-type books in which soldiers did that exact thing.
  13. Hey guys, after looking at your new screen shots I am amazed at the attention to detail! You guys have really gone all-out on this thing! (So much for the carrot, now for a small stick or two...) You guys need vehicles to leave tracks so the gamer can look at the battle- field later and revisit the battle. I was in the gulf war (combat support) and the thing that amazed me was that, while traveling north at the onset of the ground war (and right behind the armor), I could see armor tracks and literally "read" what had happened! Tracks would go to a certain point, a few shells would be lying there, and then you could see where the vehicle backed up slightly and took off! Also I think the graphics need to "haze out" in the distance - everything is too darn clear (which makes it too unrealistic). The smoke could be thinner and a lighter shade of gray, maybe? Destroyed vehicles should have dead vehicle trash (ammo cans, parts, ball-bearings and 10W30 oil) lying around them - the carnage of war! Battlefields are like junkyards! Burnt vehicles are turned a orange-rust color. Maybe you could soften up the hedgerows a bit - they are too symetrical (hard flat edges - they look like walls!) But hey, THE GAME LOOKS GREAT!!!!
  14. Probaby missed it, did a search on it and got nowhere. How about it - gonna release a demo and, if you do, when?
  15. Excuse me if you've covered this already, but I'm curious how you'll handle the explosions, etc...sometimes good games lose something when the same explosion happens over and over, regardless of the type of vehicle that is exploding or what it is hit with. Will you have several different explosion types? How will fires or burning vehicles be handled? How about smoke plumes from things on fire? Individual soldiers - will they all fall the same? Hopefully not...thanks.
