  2. Well, still waiting until CM arrives in Belgium, I started up Last Defence (yes, the beta) once again. Played as Germans. My attack went so well that at turn 10 I had routed the Allies completely, and stopped at the riverbanks and placed my troops in the houses in Hiding. Strange thing happened. The next turn the allies surrendered, and when i looked at the map, everybody had surrendered, even the newly arrived reinforcements. The reinforments came just at the time the AI gave it up, and there it was, 3 abandoned Hellcats and approx 80 men captured. I dunno if this has been noticed before, just had to bring it up. S. I made some screenshots of it if someone is interested.

  4. Look what BTS said about the voodoo2 problem. http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/004498.html I recently bought me a geforce DDR card, and with FSAA activated on a 20" monitor at 1600*1200 --> Absolutely amazing!! S.
  5. yup, Voodoo2 cards don't work wel with advanced smoke grafics, you get squares in it. S.
  6. Do we have these little buggers in CM? (don't see them on the vehicles list though) maybe an addon for the german demo-squads? S.
  7. Just curious, what type of tank get's destroyed in the movie with the goliath vehicle. S.
  8. The germans had develloped a very efficient nerve gas, I think it was called Sarin. Why they didn't use it? First there was the Geneva Convention, that didn't allow gas to be used. Another thing was that the Germans were afraid to use it coz of retaliations of the allies.

  10. yup, i have the same results with the G200. Time to upgrade I guess. Will the new Nvidia Geforce 2 chip do the job? I saw that Creative has a card out in that chipset; the Annihilator 2. (kick ass card) S. btw, what's the highest resolution CM can go in 3D? Wasn't it 1600x1200?

  12. ok, got the new 3dfx-drivers installed for my voodoo2. version of 27/01/2000. Still having the same problem -> transluscent grey squares. Not such a big difference with black smoke, but it sure looks bad on white smoke. then I tested all the video modes. the voodoo2 directX 7 drivers always gives problems. (the squares) next --> my primary display (Matrox Millenium G200) When i test it to use for CM, it also gives me the squares in the smoke and it's not transluscent. last option: In sofwaremode the squares are gone. But the grafics are really bad and a FPS of 0.5 or something :-( I hope someone can help me out. S.
  13. hi, thanks for all the answers. The voodoo3 problem seems to be solved with the lastest drivers, but I'm having still problems with my voodoo 2. If I go at 3dfxgamers.com to download the Diamond monster 3d II drivers, they redirect me to The Diamond Multimedia site, and those drivers are already installed on my system. thnx for any help, S.

  15. High-quality smoke looks like many transluscent grey squares floating up into the sky me too, I'm using a pII 450 with a Voodoo2. S.

' Well, a single MG would make little chance of downing a jabo in 1944. Instead its purpose was to harass the jabo as it was aligning for its shot. Those tracer lines looked more nasty to pilots than they really were .... true, one MG ain't gonna do it, but a goup of tanks shooting at 1 plane... But the most important thing was, that the tank commanders had something to shoot back with, even if it was just for morale. still, the AAmg can also be used for ground targets, like the 50cal. on the shermans. In the Beta-demo they can't be seen; for example on top of the tiger. I would like to know if that has been changed. Are they modelled in CM and do they now have a 3D model? S.
  17. As seen on the CM HQ, the air raids are deadly against tanks. Dont't the heavy and medium tanks have AA-MG? All the pictures you see, the tanks had Anti-air later on in the war. Is this modelled in CM? Can the tank take advantages of the terrain, like hiding under trees, or in forests? In the PBEM game, the famous winter senario of Fionn on the CM HQ, there was a stug , way back. Fion positioned it aside on a forest road, under some trees, and still the planes saw it and destroyed it. Strange....   20. Recently I saw a thread of that discussed those. I've found some nice info on the german part, and it seems they were used quite often.   21. I had something smilar happening. I decided to do a bit of TESTING on the last defence map, so i ran up all my tanks up to hill where the hellcatts appear (man those bazooka rounds where flying...) I parked the 2 stugs to the sides of the road, some 50m. The tiger way back as far as it could be done, against the edge of the map. Then I waited. Just before they came I saved. (so i could do it several times over). what then happens is one of the shortest battles to see , once the nahverteidigungs-weapons on the Tiger, caused a Hellat to be abandoned. (very nice) thus onto they MG thingy, over the 30+ tests I ran, this happened only once. The moment the turn started, 2 of 3 hellcats fired at one stug with their 50cal. (not the main cannons!!!!, they where still turning). (approx 50m, and no infantery near it!!!) After a while I wondered why the stug hadn't fired it main gun yet. I replayed ita few times , and yes, his main gun was damaged, done by 50 cal. maybe a lucky hit on the optics? S.
