  1. Hey von shrad, Those figures are too cool! I gotta get me one (or two). What do they cost? I couldn't find any prices on the web page. Rex PS. My girlfriend is cursing your name right now. You'd best lay low for awhile...
  2. Colin, von shrad, et al, Don't forget to pick me up on your way. I've killed men for less... Rex
  3. How about 15) Nuclear weapons. I can hear Steve now, 'That's not in CM's scale'. Yeesh, what a broken record that guy is 16) 'Why Can't We Be Friends' by War, Bruce Springsteen's 'War, What Is It Good For', or 'Give Peace a Chance' by John Lennon as part of the soundtrack. 17) Al Pacino holding a gernade launcher in the middle of the battlefield screaming 'Say hello to my little friend!'
  4. I remember seeing a report a few years ago that said nearly all of American teenagers claimed they were better than average in math. Of course, they also claimed to better than average in geography, yet, over 20%, IIRC, couldn't locate Japan on a globe. Some couldn't even find the US.
  5. Thanks for the info, Doug. I'll start pushing my boss for WIN2000 today.
  6. Okay, just so I don't get jumped here: I searched but didn't get find out... Several weeks ago, I downloaded CM here at work and couldn't get it to run. I checked the messages and found that not only the demo, but CM itself won't run under NT. Something about direct X... Is this still the case. I'd like to have it here at work (just for demostration purposes, of course).
  7. Yo Tomm, Why you dissin' LC like that? You'd best give him some props, or else I git my 9 and bust a cap in your ass! Rex PS. Who's the black private dick that's such a sex machine with all the ladies?
  8. Has anyone ever had the AI surrender? I've played games where I controlled nearly all the victory locations (>90%)and had routed or killed nearly all the enemy, and still the game lasts for (a very predictable) 30 turns. The random game length is, IMHO, a great idea. The idea of a time limit on a battle is ludicrous. In fact, it seems to me that battles should have no time limit at all. They end when one side has accomplished a specific task and the opposing side has no chance to stop them, or once one side is rendered combat ineffective (retreat, surrender, deaths, etc.) I recall from earlier threads that once one side had developed enough of an edge, the game would declare that side the winner. Is this still correct? If so, I feel that it probably needs a little fine tuning. If not, please put it in (I hate playing out those last few turns when the outcome is painfully clear to everyone). Either way, ramdom game length seems like a simple thing to set up, and would add significantly to the realism of the game. Just my $.02 worth...
  9. Oh man, you are just asking for trouble...
  10. Ahh! An inside joke! I've been offline for awhile, so I guess I missed out... Anyways, how 'bout this: Actually, progress on CM has been stopped for awhile now. The entire BTS staff has been hired to put the finishing touches on CC5 (which has always been our dream). We're just stalling until April Fools Day, when we'll let the rest of you in on the joke!!! Ahahaha!!!
  11. Yeesh! The poor guy asks a (fairly?) reasonable question and you guys pounce on him like a pack of wolves. You should all take phoenix's advice 'Relax. Focus your energy on something positive.'
  12. Hey Madmatt, Loved the story! If we ever play CM by email, remind me to let you win! I've seen a bar fight or two in my day, some were pretty nasty. How anyone could deal with that on a daily basis is beyond me. Rex
  13. Rommel, I had a similiar experience with the new scenerio. I snuck my last StuG up over a ridgeline, positioning him to have an absolutely mouth-watering flank shot against the last remaining Sherman. Suddenly, he wheels his turret around 180 degrees to engage some infantry 300 yds away! The Sherman missed with its first shot, and the StuG tried to spin its turret back, but, well, I'm sure you can picture what happened next. The infantry was no threat to the Stug, the Sherman was. Why would it give up a shot at the most dangerous enemy on the battlefield to take a few pot-shots at some puny infantry safety hidden in woods. I chalked it up to the StuG not seeing the Sherman, which seemed pretty unlikely, but the only explanation I can come up with.
  14. Vulcans vs. Klingons! Too cool. I can't wait to see how those King Tigers hold up against a cloaked Klingon Bird of Prey...
  15. BTS, Playing the US in Last Defense. I had a full platoon set in one of the buildings. Just as the turn ends, an artillary round lands directly on top of them. The full 12 man platoon reduced to a single man! "Wow"', I said, "I've got to see that again". Well, sadly enough, the round hit again. But this time, 4 men survived. "Huh?" I rewound again and watch a third time. Two men survive. Then three, then one... I must have watch the final seconds of that turn 10 times, each time getting different results. I saved the game at the end of the turn, which probably won't help much, but I didn't know what else to do. Is this a known bug or something else? Rex
  16. No way, you should be ashamed for even thinking such a thing. I'd say it borders on sin, if I were there I'd smack your knuckles with a yardstick.
  17. Hey BTS, Would it be possible to post the opposing players global moral level along with the kill/captured stats at the end of a scenerio? I've had a few games where I was sure he was ready to surrender but he just kept hanging on... When the game's finished, I'd like to know how desperate he was.
  18. Of course, you guys know better than I whether sharing ammo was a common occurance or not. But it seems to me, if I was about to rush across an open field, and the men who were suppling me with covering fire said 'Sorry, we're out of ammo', I'd probably toss 'em a few clips. I realize that 'ammo is life', but having more men firing at my enemy seems to me a better tactic than having everyone else sit back while I did all the shooting (and attracting all the return fire).
  19. Okay, I realize that this has probably been discussed before, but here goes... Shouldn't squads be able to share ammo between themselves? Last night I had two squads in the same building. One was 'low' on ammo, but the other had ammo for 17 volleys. In real life, wouldn't they split up the ammo? Why not have a 'Share ammo' command for this type of circumstance? Rex
  20. Tom, I played the Americans last weekend, and lost the sole remaining vehicle (my Hellcat) to german infantry using, get this, gernades! I had them pinned down with MG fire, and rushed my tank in, hoping that they'd surrender. They didn't! A couple of gernades later, I was short one more Hellcat... Couldn't believe it! Rex
  21. You lucky bastard! I wish I'd get fired...
  22. Sorry, I didn't save it. I should've known better, but it was late... On a similiar vein, I've had infantry use PF's against other infantry, even when they had other weapons. Was it SOP to do this?
  23. They were OK, and nearly full strength, when they first saw the tank. After the tank fired at them for a few rounds they became pinned and one even eventually panicked. It made no difference in this game, but I'd like to understand their behavior for future reference.
  24. Last night I played Reisberg as the Germans. Towards the end of the scenerio, I managed to get two infantry squads and a leader behind the last US tank. I expected to see some cool fireworks when both teams opened up with panzerfausts (they both had two left), but they wouldn't! They just sat and stared at the thing! Even when I targeted the thing on the next several turns, they wouldn't shoot at it! I don't understand this behavior at all. One of the squads was 'green', but the other was 'regular', and they both had a leader nearby. The tank was only 80m away, certainly close enough for a shot. Can anyone explain this reaction to me?
