  1. I have to agree with the OP, especially on heavily wooded maps...I'm playing a scenario now with lots of forest paths, and despite the fact that most vehicles go through them fine (after tediously adding lots of way-points), a few tanks have simply refused to enter the forest and instead break off to the right or left in search of a "better route".

Probably because you missed a bit where there was heavy forest on the ground... happens to me constantly when going through forests because they look very similar (light and heavy forest ground that is).

  2. As I understand it, there's no "AI" as such, just AI plans designed by the scenario maker. So the designer merely needs to design appropriate plans for the terrain..

    Then you understand wrong.

There is a plan, sure, but that plan is just a largely broad plan of "In 10 minutes you should move into this area" without actually specifying what route they should take.

So in a normal CMBN scenario with the normal Bocage, they would have to move around the bocage or through the small openings.

On this bocage, they would simply go for the fastest way there and since it would consider the bocage "woods" it would move straight through it instead of around it.

  3. One thing that dawned on me now is that the AI won't be able to handle this realistically.

It will just see a small hill with bushes on it more or less and not navigate around it, but rather through it despite the risks.

This might be best contained to H2H maps and not maps where the AI will partake.

  4. I wonder why they just did not improve the Engine and transmission.. then up armored it. They were into large things... I guess trying to improve it was maybe to hasty, or they thought the Tiger II would be that much better...

Although I love the Tiger II, I think I would have improved the Tiger 1, and kept the extra material... but it is amazing at what the Germans could muster while they were getting bombed day and night, and attacked from all sides.

I often wondered why they didn't just retrofit their PzIV's with sloped frontal armour and other stuff like that.

But, I'm no tank engineer so I have no clue what that would take.

    Seems like a no-brainer tho.

I haven't seen the vid and so haven't given it a thumbs down...yet. And I am open to bribery.

    :D

    Michael

Well, I'm unemployed so I can't bribe you with much... but hugs are always free :D

  5. I'm wondering why Germans didn't make Tiger I frontal armor thicker in later variants. 130 mm in front could save them (us) :) a lot of trouble from US 76mm and Soviet 85mm guns.

Well the tanks engine and gearbox already strained under the weight of the vehicle so adding more armour to it would not make much sense.

Also, I see someone gave me a thumbs down on the video :(

    I'm a saaaaaaaad panda now :(
