We must "out" HolgerDK. He is the fourth of the Heraldites ... although now a former Heraldite as he has gone off to do real work at a real company and make real money ... in short, he's a whore ... but a Heraldite nonetheless. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty [This message has been edited by Moriarty (edited 03-10-2001).]

Jumbo's - how do i beat these elephant skinned Goliaths
Moriarty replied to a topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
CDIG, perhaps it was pure luck, but I had a puppchen in ambush at 250m take out a Jumbo. First shell got his attention, second did the trick. My thanks again to Geier for pulling the beast 10m forward and stopping on the ambush point. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty -

Very good point. The flags are useful only in that it's a pretty good bet that's were your opponent is headed (in a meeting engagement, anyway). ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty

Lorak, while you're scribing thusly, you may inscribe yet another loss for yours truly and a victory for the North Woods Bard, Senility, who cobbled together a minor victory ... more paltry than minor, actually. Do you think BTS would add "minuscule" to the victory options? ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty -
The characterization was made that Fionn always plays the Germans and created the rule to allow him the Panther while denying the U.S. the Jackson's 90mm gun ... thereby weighting the game in his favor. The assumptions of those statements are garbage. While I believe he does have a preference for the Germans, I know he has played the various Allied forces (with the possible exception of the Brits) and he wins more than he loses regardless of which side he takes. Is he invincible? No, of course not. But he is one of the better players. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty

The beauty of Scotch is that there is a brand for any discriminating palate. I thoroughly enjoy Laphroiag, but if I want something lighter, Lagavulin is superb or lighter still ... an 18 y.o. Glenlivet. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty

Big flags are 300 pts; little ones are 100. VLs are not the only factors the AI considers when calculating victory points. It also will take into consideration how many men, vehicles you lost or saved, how many crews were lost or saved, etc. Highly trained crews (armor crews, mortar crews, FOs, etc.) are given more value by the AI than grunts. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty

Kitty, no need to do anything to Lawyer's pic on Lorak's website, he's already wearing the white pointed helmet of a Prussian officer ... at the proverbial jaunty angle no less. ..... oops, ohmygosh that's the Capitol. PENG!...no just help a poor newbie please
Moriarty replied to Canuck's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Welcome, Canuck Here's a few good sites to start to look for mods. http://combathq.thegamers.net/ http://www.afv-uk.net/cmoutpost/ www.derkessel.com At the first one, you can d/l mod handling software that makes it very easy to switch mods. Take your time and do some window shopping. There are a lot of different mods out there. Also look for posts in this forum about mods. Many have links to the sites where you can d/l them. Personally, I'm a big fan of work (esp. terrain and buildings) of a guy who goes by the nick Magua. His HT mods are outstanding. I also have a fair number of Tiger's vehicle mods and Kitty's King Tiger is very well done. The explosion mod at combathq is a must-have. I'm partial to terrain and vehicles, not so much uniforms and such. These are just to name a few. There's a lot of people doing good work out there. The first site has two sections dedicated to mods. The in-house guys (Madmatt , Bil Hardenberger and Kwazydog) have packaged a collection of mods into mod packs. The 3rd party section features submitted mods from various authors. The opinions expressed here are just that, my opinions. Can't help you on the patch issue. You can e-mail Steve or Madmatt and probably get a quick answer. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty [This message has been edited by Moriarty (edited 02-26-2001).] -
OK, it's been a very long time since there was something worth reading out in the other part of the forum, but "The story of two numb nut newbies" by Boru is a must. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty

Lorak, get out your hammer and chisel and scribe thusly: Moriarty has been gutted, abused, decimated, mauled and darn near keel-hauled by Kitty. The noose of a gajillion Tigers, KTs, Panthers and PzIVs tightening about my gallant but hapless five M4s and recon platoon was too much. If anyone's looking for a fun (large) map for a tank fight, contact Berli and ask him for the "tank map." ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty [This message has been edited by Moriarty (edited 02-23-2001).]

Kitty: When will your KT mod be out?
Moriarty replied to Sgt. Steiner's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Play her in an armor battle. Take horrific losses as her Panthers and Tigers (including the KT) thoroughly gut your M4s. Maybe she'll have pity on you and send it to you. ------------------ "Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change." -- Oddball "Crap." -- Moriarty
