Creating a mission for a network game.
Cougar_DK posted a topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
Hi, I'm not sure if this should go in this forum or the other, so please move it if its wrong. I've been playing around with the editor today and have tried to create a simple MP mission following the Mission Editor readme file from the docs directory. And I'm not sure I really understand point 8: "Creating a mission for a network game". It states that there should be 4 points per army, but the N and K confuses me, because I thought there should be a Player_1_army_pos, Player_1_army_target, Player_1_depl_pos and Player_1_depl_target. And I guess its therefore my mission dosn't show up in the MP game list. I tried to look in MP Mission 08 since its a two player game and saw this: So its seems that "N" and "K" dosn't really follow the army number. Please advice. Cheers Mark -
Great for you. I have a 8800GTS 640mb and can't get more than about 20 when all the goodis is disabled, snif.

If you have a dual core and Nvidia video card
Cougar_DK replied to rune's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
I have done both these things, but still gets 5-11 fps with shadows on and 15-20 with out. One cpu selected ingame. My dxdiag: DxDiag.txt -
For me the most important three things is: 1) Make the game run better on my pc. (AMD Athlon 64 X2 / 4400+ 2.2 GHz, 2 x Kingston 1024 MB DDR RAM 3200 (Mhz 400) and Nvidia 8800GTS 640) 2) Better notifications of when your troops is in cover 3) Better cover for inf and at.

Slightly different take on Slow Performance
Cougar_DK replied to TAW_Mcvittees's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
It seems that the biggest FPS killer right now (for me) is the shadows. So I'm right now playing with out. I havn't played around with the grass though, mine is "Normal" right now. It seems there is something eating up cpu cycles, beacuse other games like Armed Assault, Supreme Commander etc. runs just fine. -
For those with Dual/Quad Core Processors
Cougar_DK replied to Madmatt's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
Yes I would suggest the AMD people to take a look at this thread at GalCiv. Dual Core Machines may need a driver update I had these problems with their game Galactic Civilizations until I downloaded and installed the latest AMD cpu driver. But again it dosn't help in ToW. And I have only heard bad about the optimizer. Cheers Mark -
Slightly different take on Slow Performance
Cougar_DK replied to TAW_Mcvittees's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
I just changed my resolution from 1680x1050 (screen native reolution) to 1024x768 and the FPS is nearly the same when looking at the units in the first single player battle (don't remember its name) i.e. non campaign. -

Game Unplayable Speed Problem
Cougar_DK replied to Spartan's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
I have these problems too and have just upgraded my SLI 7800 with a new 8800GTS 640. And I get the same frame rate (12-22) as the old cards. I will make a better post later tonight with a lot of stuff in it and comparisions between the different settings. Lets nail this sucker. Cheers Mark -
I've been using Download Express (free version) and my download just finished (1h15m42s). Hope others can use the bandwidth

Demo is running perfect in 1280x1024 on this rig: AMD Athlon 64 X2 / 4400+ 2.2 GHz 2 x GeForce 7800 GTX / 256MB / PCI-E 2 x Kingston 1024 MB DDR RAM 3200 (Mhz 400) Creative SB X-Fi I have used the option to run on one cpu. My only thing right now is that the skins looks a little blured?
-
Yeah, the chances for playing the full version tonight here in Denmark is pretty slim. But I will take the demo for a spin when I get home.

I just hope that we, us that have preordered, gets our game before the demo is released....

35 now, 36 is closing fast. Been playing wargames and sims since the C64. And have been painting and playing with miniatures since I was 13. I like to play POA2 (beta tester), CMxx, TOAW, SH4, GalCiv2, rFactor, Oblivion, ArmA, IL-2 and Falcon 4AF. Cheers Mark

Man, I'm a little tired of all these thread about copy protection. When its SF people starts flame wars, then some hates SecureRom and now online registration. Moon has made a post here stating that should it happen that BF closes down they would release a .exe file that didn't need activation. Geeez what do you guys wan't more? Is this a fight for the sake of the fight?

Mixed feelings about the actual state of TOW
Cougar_DK replied to DeLaVega's topic in Theatre of War
I would not see smaller maps, thats one of the things Battlefront added to the game, making it more WWII realistic. I really don't want a new WWII RTS where weapons ranges is your screen size or just beyond. I want room for manuvere and time to plan my attack/defense, using weapon types in a realistic way. And it really seems that TOW will give me this. Cheers Mark
