  1. Thanks for commenting BB. Your right. So the conclusion is that you take orders and follow them to the best of your ability and that you do not communicate 'bottom up' or across the line unless you are mechanized infantry (although the mechs would then just be an integral part of your unit with no separate HQ to communicate with !). Okay sergeant. [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 10-27-2000).]
  2. Sure thing Topi. But then again ... if we did it here it would be documented for the lurkers, lovers, and latent players not forgetting the sad souls that for some reason could not make the chat. It would also take some of the workload of Rob/1 and PeterNZ.
  3. Just stumbled across this looking game: Operation FlashPoint 1985 Very appropriate when one considers the resent posts about cooperative mode. Definitely a thing to consider seriously for CM2. Man! just saying the 'words Combat Mission II' instantly gives you that distant dreaming look in your eyes. Regards Frans. P.S.: Have you all tried the SpellChecker.Net thing that is available before you submit your post "vorgs grate" as DesertFox would have put it. A must for us foreigners. 4. Pull up to my bumper baby .... drive that limousine......... deledelededede. Ahhh God grace that Grace still has some grace. Well enough of this utter stupidity, just pose the question you rascal...you... Okay here goes. Will there be any communication between platoons or will all communications have to go 'from the top down' through the chain of command ? Say if my platoon of immortal PzGrenadiers would like to get a lift from a nearby sexy looking panzer platoon. What do I do ? Will I have to ask my company HQ, the panzer platoon HQ or will I be executed on sight for having the nerve to speak to my superiors without being asked to do so? Anyway I can't wait till all you sleepy warmongers on the other side of the pond wake up so that we can have a little chitchat about the great thing about to happen to our lives. I'm posting here all by my lonesome. (well no wonder .... ) Alas the price I have to pay to play with the best and die like the rest. Hold on son .... we are sending the cavalry. 5. Sorry to bother you again guys . Well just an idea. How about following the good example of 'The not so SuperBowl' gentlemen and the 'Cesspool' mental cases . We could try keeping all information and smalltalk in one thread, thus alleviating the community and our kind and generous hosts the pain of constantly seeing new threads. And there was much rejoice. May your God go with you - Dave Allen. Have you ever been mistaken for a man ? No have you ? - Wasques (Alien II).
  6. Hi fellow grunts , This is going to be really fun and nerve wrecking. I usually play company or battalion sized engagements, but I have enlisted as a willing and able Axis platoon HQ. It is going to be very tense to try and keep your tiny little group of brave men alive and battle worthy while at the same time following orders and doing heroic acts of bravery that will turn the tide of the battle. I want to thank Rob/1 for pulling it of and getting it together. You are one determined young man, and for that you deserve credit. Keep up the good work. And to the rest of you brave participants in this grand endeavor - let's all try to invest some of that personal integrity and keep it real, clean and fun - who knows this might be the start of something bigger that will serve us well in the time that lies ahead. Lock and load .... Hauptmann Jensen ready for battle. P.s.: I remembered that DesertFox used to have a great signature that I thought would be very appropriate in this outfit (it applies to myself as well) __________________ Sbelling chequed wyth MICROSOFT SPELLCHECKER - vorgs grate! __________________ See you all on the field of truth.
  7. Hi Jinkeez, Thanks for the info. I guess I should stick with Win98SE or WinME until BTS's newly hired hardware specialist (who said MadMatt ?) writes som magic drivers for win2k and linux . Well anyway who cares about the OS's name as long as it runs CM nice and smoth ? I guess when CM2 arrives I will be on one of them socket-A motherboards with Athlons own chipset and DDR capability. Thanks again. Frans [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 10-06-2000).] [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 10-06-2000).]
  8. Got it . Man I teel you I am rolling today. First this then just before I left work my boss gave me a raise. I'm even nearing my 30th post here whitch will make me a member (been here over a year). Heck ! before I know it I am probably going to be assimilated by the CM BORG ......... I'll tell you what ..... why don't one of the more daring amongst you just mail me a setup 'sdkfej@sdk.sas.com', and I will PBEM you like you have never been PBEM'ed before, but no rough stuff since it's my first time, and if you keep it small I'll even be able to ICQ U when the kids are sleeping. Dang ! I'm feeling so lucky I think I can beat Fioon Kelly. Thanks again DeanCo (you have 1'st priority if you dare send me that setup ) This is the good life Frans [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 10-06-2000).]
  9. I just want to add to the generel consensus and the most exellent ideas from the gentlemen of this thread. I believe that having units out of command controlled by the AI, in conjunction with being able to give initial overall orders upon which the AI would control said units, would lift this great game into the skyes and possibly solve several minor problems on the way. 1: The AFV crews should of course go out of control the instant their chariot is knocked out, and maybe only go into control again if in command by a company or platoon HQ. This would make gamey use of crews much harder. 2: The ability to give initial overall orders could be a springboard for removing the 'capture the flag' fights and instead focus on tactically important areas (defined by the scenario designer and guestimated by the player(s)). I know this is possibly naive hopes, but anyway I just wanted to commed the big thinkers of this thread. Here's to the dreams that makes CM go further ... Frans
  10. Loving it ! Loving it ! You are the main man DeanCO Glad I could be of any help. Thanks to you CM is made better and you just made my day a good one. I actually feel very proud to have contributed in my measly little way . If you ever find yourself stuck with a word please dont hesitate mailing me - luck might just strike me again. Thank you very much. I can't wait to redownload this beauty. Frans
  11. Hi Jinkeez, I'm running the same setup as you just with the K7V from ASUS (same chipset). Have you been able to get win2k and CM to run without the flashing text thingy ? I know there was a post about this particulary problem a while ago where BTS said they would look in to it. No word yet though. So I'm hoping that maybe you have some insight with this problem on our specific setup . Well anyway just a thought. I want to switch to win2k but not before I can play CM troublefree. Regards Frans [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 10-06-2000).]
  12. Hi DeanCO, I have downloaded and tried all three of your beautiful TC-mods, and they are all very very good. Thank you for all the hard work. I am particulary fond of the grog-TC, but I have a small suggestion regarding the 'Fatigue' indicator. Maybe its because my english stinks but I have a hard time 'feeling' the difference between fatigue and tired. How about changing fatigue to 'winded' or something to that effect. To me winded would be catching my breath after a sprint, tired would be sitting down for a while and weary would be needing a serious lie down and a cup off coffee. Anyway just a shot at some constructive feedback from a dedicated fan. Thanks again and happy modding. Frans. [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 10-06-2000).]
  13. Hurra ! Hurra ! Hurra ! It has been a pleasure to watch the CMHQ grow and become the gem it is today, and also a pleasure to play with all the beautiful new textures. Thank you MadMatt and KwazyDog for all your hard work. I guess you both had this well deserved bonus comming. Good Luck to both off you. Frans ------------------ If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Then give up. There's no use being a damned fool about it.
  14. Hi Gunslinger, I don't know much about graphics, but your pics definitely look very good through my eyes. It must be an awesome amount of work. My question is: Is it possible to put more trees in the different wood/pines/trees sections? Maybe even fill those sections up? I know that would hide the troops and slow down the pc, but one would still have the 4 increments of tree coverage originally put in the game. Well just an idea. Thank you very much for the work you put in, so that the rest of us can enjoy CM even more. (That goes for all of you skilled individuals that have brought mods, articles etc. to the CM community). Frans. ------------------ If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Then give up. There's no use being a damned fool about it.
  15. BeautifyingTerrificSellouts. Fantastic game, fantastic support ... and the amount of integrity that is being displayed ... man you just cant help loving it. Congratulations to everybody involved in the making of this gem.

  17. Hi Moon (sounds like 'high noon') You wrote ------------------------------------------- I am consistently able to bring a tank into a hull down position using the good Mark I eyeball only, knowing now how to estimate the graphical representation of terrain in CM and comparing it to the mathematical model it is based on. ------------------------------------------- I think that it's great that a player has to practice a 'move' like hull-down before it is mastered. But you mention that you are using the games mathematical model. Since I (and probably other players to) don't know the mathematical model, could you please elaborate on your tecnique (without giving away your veteran advantage of cource ). That would be extremely kind and useful. Thank you. ------------------ If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Then give up. There's no use being a damned fool about it.
  18. Hej venner ! (Hello friends). Yet another dane signs on for duty. Been with this forum since september, preordered in october, and still hanging loose waiting for the final nirvana. Cheers. p.s.: How about some PBEM when the game arives ???. ------------------ If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again. Then give up. There's no use being a damned fool about it.
  19. Hey guy's Before christmas there was a vote, requested by BTS, on wheter to ship with or without TCP/IP. The vote was heavy in favour of shipping without TCP/IP. BTS has promised to (correct me if ...) make TCP/IP happen as fast as possible after the initial shipping and make it availible in a downloadable patch. So I guess the short of it is that TCP/IP will not be in the gold demo. Cheers and happy millenium Frans ------------------ If you can't join'em beat'em.
  20. BTS. Thanks very much for the intel. Takes a bit of pressure off us high hopers. We can now stop crying because, although we want the merchandise so very badly, we can rest asured that the golden day is approaching steadily and surely. May your days be merry and bright - and may all your christmases be white. Frans. [This message has been edited by HawkerT (edited 12-16-99).]
  21. Das Boot. You are dead on. "If you can't join'em beat'em" was infact said by the Danish Foreign Secretary mr. Uffe Elleman Jensen in June 1989 IIRC. He said it to describe that wild month in witch the Danes both failed to become a fully fledged member of the EU and at the same time won the eouropean soccer championship. Here's to BTS and us crazzzzyy Danes. Cheers, and boy I just can't wait - this is gonna be the game of a lifetime. ------------------ If you can't join'em beat'em.
  22. Yep ! Been there, done that, think everybody have. I mean, how can one possibly NOT order this game ? Beats me anyhow.... ------------------ If you can't join'em beat'em.
  23. Hi guy's, Im getting a bit paranoid here. I dont know if these post's are directed at me. If I have messed up and made myself a nuisance I'm truly sorry. I went to TGN and read the article and voted (I still believe that the vote was actually requested by battlefront.com/BTS). Then I came back here to be friendly and sort of a newspaperboy and yell "extra extra - read all about it". That's all I wanted. To clear things up I will say that I only post here because I love CM. And for the record I dont play must PBEM or TCP/IP hence my preference is for the solution where CM ships before TCP/IP. Sorry if I messed up. Frans. ------------------ If you can't join'em beat'em.
  24. Herr Oberst. I am truly sorry if you find my post's pushy. I definetely agree that this product should only be shipped when finished, and if you read my post again you will find no indication af my own personal preference in this vote, as I tried to keep it objective. I just wanted everybody to give their 2 cent's worth in this vote that I believe was requested by battlefront.com/BTS (I'm not sure about the difference). Cheers, and may CM be ready when it is ready and not a second before. Frans ------------------ If you can't join'em beat'em.
