  1. Just to put another spin on it, the game was sent by USPS Priority mail, which has no tracking number. If it had been sent by USPS Express mail it would have had a tracking number AND been delivered overnight in the USA.
  2. 0311, sorry, but Priority is NOT overnight mail. Express mail is overnight. Priority is 2-3 day delivery. Express mail can be tracked, Priority can't be tracked, but you can have delivery confirmation.
  3. Wow, guess I should have gotten back to this sooner. Don't worry anyone, I don't take personal offense to the remarks I see here. The USPS isn't perfect and I know it as well as anyone (probably BETTER than most!). The USPS can match UPS and FedEx with their Express mail. Overnight delivery with the ability to track the package, costs about the same (maybe less) as what the others charge. There is no way to trace Priority mail, but then, the sender didn't pay for that kind of service. The USPS has many options, not just Priority. Believe me, I've thought a few unkind thoughts these last few days, waiting (and still waiting) for my CM (ordered July 1999). It was just by luck I decided to check my credit card and discovered I hadn't been charged yet. Turns out BTS thought it had expired and e-mailed me, but to a old address. That's cleared up now and I hope to have my CM in a few days. It also helped to find out that BTS hadn't gotten everything the USPS as quickly as some had thought.
  4. This seems to be the right place to ask Steve to check his e-mails. I never received an e-mail saying my credit card wasn't charged, but on checking my account, there isn't anything from BTS. I preordered last July.
  5. 0311, you have NO idea what you're talking about. I've worked for the USPS for 18 years, my wife has worked there for 7 years and NEITHER of us us have a "hoHum" attitude. As far as delivery confirmation goes, it can be done with both Express and Priority mail. If BTS didn't choose to do it with their mailing, then that was their choosing. As far as UPS vs USPS goes, if we only delivered as many as they do in a year, I'd have a long vacation because we do their yearly business in one DAY. And we deliver to EVERYONE in the USA, not just who we want to.
  6. A few days ago, BTS posted this message, when asked when all preorders would be sent: "We are hoping the answer will be... MONDAY But I can't say that with more than a little bit of doubt. I would, however, say that Tuesday would appear to be the latest. Let's put it this way... if there are any CM Preorders still in our warehouse by the end of Tuesday I am going to be a "tad bit upset". I know they are going as fast as they can, but there really should be no reason they can't have all of them out by then." Question- HAVE all the preorders been sent yet?
  7. I hate to break it to all of you, but unless the preorders were in the 10's of thousands, they were probably moved out of the receiving PO within 24 hours. It doesn't take that long to work packages. I've worked for the USPS for 18 years and for the last 8 years I've been part of the operation that receives, works, and sends out mail at night. Packages don't "sit" for a couple of days. A small PO wouldn't even try to work incoming mail, it's sent on to a center like I work at. I ordered last July, ahead of MANY of you. I asked, and received, a description of the package CM was coming in. I have many clerks watching for my package, so my carrier won't even delay it by a few hours. And I still don't have my CM yet! Feel frustrated, I know I do. But remember, in one DAY, the USPS works as many pieces of mail as UPS & FedEx does in a YEAR.
  8. You've got nothing to complain about! I WORKED for the USPS, ordered last July, and STILL haven't got my copy of CM.
  9. Just a little USPS lesson for all of you. The USPS is a 24/7 operation. Just because we only deliver between 8 & 5 each day doesn't mean the mail isn't still being worked and moved around the entire country. That's why I'll either get my CM Friday morning from my carrier or I'll intercept it Friday night at work and be able to play ALL DAY SATURDAY! Most of you will probably gets yours also on Saturday (or Monday) except Jeff Pattison. for that "snail mail" crack I'll make sure his copy gets misrouted. Make sure you check those postmarks when you get it Jeff. Should be QUITE a collection!
  10. If you're going to watch for the UPS man, you're going to have a long wait. BTS has said that they're shipping by USPS, not UPS. Desert Fox - just go to your PO and have them hold your mail. Of course, there are a lot of clerks with time on their hands who will be more than willing to "test" your CM for you!
  11. preorder? Who preordered the earlist and therefore will be the first to have their copy of CM sent to them? I received my e-mail confirmation on July 17th of last year, can't remember if I ordered that day or the day before.
  12. Since scenarios last 30-60 minutes, it would be hard to go from day to night (or night to day). I would guess the weather could change as much as it can in that time period. Maybe operations will allow for greater change.
  13. OB&G, considering the number of misspelled words I find in your postings, you have no room to be knocking others. This board is for CM, not spelling.
  14. This was posted by Steve on May 14th of this year: "We think orders will be processed around the last day of this month, hopefully shipping out within a week after. Normally we only charge cards on the day before we ship, but we have too many preorders to do that."
  15. You'll find more information about the movie at Upcomingmovies.com. They talk about the movie at: http://upcomingmovies.com/enemy-at-the-gates.html The release date is November 10, 2000.
  16. If I understand Bill, wouldn't using elevations 8-13 give you your greens and browns?
  17. To get back to the original question, I believe Steve & Charles have said NO to a Pacific CM.
  18. I don't think Colin was asking about how long it would take to make a new demo, like the beta demo. I think he was asking how long it would take to make the GOLD demo after CM is actually finished. Is it just a matter of removing some lines of code?
  19. Got to jump on this. April 15th, tax day, is my guess.
  20. The answer, according to Steve & Charles, is no. CM is geared toward WWII and would taken too much rework to cover other time periods.
  21. BTS has said before that CM2, CM3,....., will be standalone games. They won't be updates to CM1.
  22. No CM in the Pacific theater. CM2 is Eastern Front. CM3 is North Africa/Med. CM4 is early Western Europe.
  23. Since there seems to be a fair amount of confusion concerning the correct order of sending files (and which files) in PBEM games, will the manual give a detailed description of how to play a PBEM game? I'm sure there are many of us who have never tried a PBEM game before.
  24. As one of those "lazy postal guys", I would be happy to deliver marcusjm's copy of CM by Christmas. Maybe not Christmas 1999, however!
