  1. Please review this part of the eLicense Troubleshooting Guide: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=46&Itemid=30
  2. What OS are you running? What is the driver version # that you have installed for your 2400 card? Have you tried disabling or setting to Application Preference your anistropic filtering and anti-aliasing settings? You can do that from your driver control panel and doing so is usually whatc an fix what you report as seeing. Madmatt
  3. As Moon stated alluded to above, CMBO, BB and AK are no longer supported titles and haven't been in years. That's not to mention that we don't even list Vista as a supported OS with those games. We understand that they have a huge base of installed users but our focus is on new, revenue generating games like CMSF and future games still in the works, not titles that employ technology nearly a decade old. That's not to say we don't still enjoy the original three games, of course we do, but in this case, the problem is a uniquely Vista one and even more centralized to the current state of Nvidia (in most cases) and ATI (to a lesser degree) drivers. We have been down this road many times before and every time its taken a concerted effort on the parts of ATI and Nvidia to rectify the problems on their end in their drivers themselves. We can not simply code up a quick fix for fundamental issues with their drivers. We know, we have tried in the past. As we have ruminated about countless times, our research and development time is very scarce and finite. Either we can focus on our current and future games and continue to grow as a company, or we can expend these precious resources on games that are now between 5-9 years old. Even if we offered an update at a price, it could not offset the true cost of such a venture. We love that you guys love our older games, but they are exactly that, old and with age, in this industry at least, often comes obsolescence and assorted aches and pains. We have always said that we will be turning our attention back to WWII very soon, and when we do, and you see what we can do with the CMx2 engine in that setting, I think you will be pleased that you have stayed with us all this time. 4. I moved the last post to this topic to it's own new thread. Madmatt
  5. You said you installed *new* drivers but didnt say what version specifically. Have you tried the new Catalyst 8.6 drivers yet? Another thing to be careful of is that ATI drivers are VERY picky about how you install them. They always work best if you first totally uninstall and remove them and THEN install the latest version. They tend to not work as well if you simply update them from one version to another. There are a variety of 3rd party driver cleaner programs out that help with this exact issue, so I would suggest using one. One other thing to try is to locate and delete your Combat Mission AK Prefs file. This will reset your various game settings and should be done whenever you install new hardware or an OS. That file should be in yoru CMAK folder but since Vista likes to try and manage game files all on its own, i suggest doing a search throughout your PC for that file in other places as well, just to be safe. 6. A weekend, fourteen days... It's essentially the same thing! Madmatt
  7. I have a 8800GT card and have no issues at all with CMSF under XP. I am running the latest Forceware drivers directly from Nvidia. I think most of the reported issues in the past were related to Vista by and large. Here are some driver settings you may want to adjust for best results in CMSF (and many other games). Select "Extension Limit" to OFF in your Nvidia control panel. In addition to the Extension Limit setting, some people have reported performance increases can also occur by setting the "Threaded optimization" to OFF and Triple Buffering to ON for Nvidia cards. Your results may vary. Madmatt
  8. That looks like its a global "either or" setting and not something that can be made user configurable. We will look into it though. Madmatt
  9. Redwolf, your arguement against the default swayed us. We have changed the Quick Reply feature to what you suggested. Seems to make more sense this way too! Madmatt
  10. Member #'s aren't really something that imported over to the system and while many of you guys used them as a badge of honor, they are not longer used for anything. We did maintain post counts which is more useful as an indicator of community involvement/status. Madmatt
  11. We can change that easily enough. Let me check to see if Martin had a reason to set it this way. It was probably just the default. As to the smilies, I will see about importing in the old UBB smilies and allowing you guys to access them as well as the new ones. Madmatt
  12. As already mentioned earlier this month, Battlefront is going to update to an entirely new infrastructure system shortly. After months of preparations, D-Day is finally near! Specifically, the final switch is planned to commence this week, Wednesday, June 25th, 2008. What does this mean for you? Besides hopefully noticing a speed increase on our websites in general, the main visible changes will include a switch to our new web portal and game sections, and migration to an all new discussion forum system. While most of the changes should not take long to activate, the internet being what it is, there could be some disruptions in service and accessibility ranging from a few hours to as much as a few days. The current discussion forum will be "locked down" Wednesday while we're importing all user data and posts into the new system. This will take a full day, or possibly more, due to the sheer mass of data that needs to be migrated. The new forum will open once all the imports are finished. It will be permanently located at this new url: http://www.battlefront.com/community Please be aware of this new location as any old links you might have to specific forums will no longer work. During the migration, your Forum User accounts will be imported to the new board. There are two important things to note: UBB forum (the old forum) allows users to have a visible Username (displayed in the forum) and a separate Login Name. This is not the case with vBulletin. Therefore, when you first log in to the new forum, you will need to do so with your UBB Username, not your UBB Login Name. your forum password MAY change. Passwords are always stored in an encrypted format in our database for added privacy and security, and therefore may not be read correctly by the new forum. If you find that your password doesn't work, you will find a link in the new forum "Lost password?" to reset your password and have it emailed to you. Please note also that the forum account will remain different (and independent) from your Customer Account username and password that you need to log into our store system. After the new site opens, please be patient with us for a few days while we clean up any broken links, missing images, files etc. We've taken careful preparations in the past months to make this as painless as possible but this is a huge update for us, and the front-end that you see is only one small part of it. Talking about links - if you have any saved links, many of them might not work once the update is complete, or they might redirect you to some generic placeholder pages we've prepared. If you saved a purchase confirmation email from the past few months, simply replace the leading http://www.battlefront-store.com:8080/ portion of the complete link with just http://www.battlefront.com/ and you will be able to click right through to your existing customer account. Remember, only change the first half of the full url, do not make any changes after :8080/. The same is true for any news/RSS feeds you might have saved that lead to http://www.battlefront-store.com:8080/. Simply edit them to point to www.battlefront.com, and it should work. Of course the easiest way to stay in touch is to use the Battlefront.com Browser Toolbar (http://battlefrontcom.ourtoolbar.com/). All links there are dynamically updated and always point to the right place! Thank you for your understanding and patience as Battlefront undergoes this latest growth spurt! The Battlefront.com Team

  21. 22. Empires of Steel is a turn-based game of world conquest set in the 20th century. Players command various ground, armored, naval and airforce units against up to 20 human or computer-controlled (Artificial Intelligence) opponents. Empires of Steel uses a simultaneous turn-resolution system, better known in gaming as „We-Go“. You can form alliances, capture and trade precious resources, research new technologies, and of course form huge invasion fleets and armies to conquer your opponents. Empires of Steel was built from the ground up with multi-player in mind, and includes voice and text chat systems, matchmaking features, and even a download system for mods, maps, and custom unit sets all integrated seamlessly into the game! Single-play against the the Artificial Intelligence Computer Opponent is of course fully supported as well – be prepared to see the computer declare war against you, or offer you a trade! Empires of Steel is all about conquest and exploration: at the start of each game you can either load a pre-generated map (such as a real world global map), or you can create a completely random map based on your preferences for land mass and other parameters. The map can either be fully revealed to all players at the start, or you can play in exploration mode, and lift the fog of the the unknown as you discover new lands and valuable resources as well as potential enemies, turn after turn. Empires of Steel is about global domination. You need to conquer resources such as Oil, Crops, Steel, or Gold to fuel your production and infrastructure as well as technological research. Aggresive players can declare wars to fight for resources, and cunning players can estabish alliances to trade for them. Empires of Steel is about the technology race. The game features an extensive technology tree starting from pre-World War One era units all the way to futuristic nuclear and satellite techs. Clever investments into technology will put you ahead in the race for global dominance. Empires of Steel is about resource-management. You decide what to produce and when, how to upgrade your cities and armies, how to defend your territory and when and where to strike against your enemies. A typical game can be played in under an hour, or it can last days. Empires of Steel is about tactics and strategy. Build up your armies and employ your land, sea and air (and space!) forces to defeat your enemies and establish an undisputed Global Empire! Empires of Steel is currently in development and is scheduled for a release in early 2009! Official Empires of Steel Website! Madmatt
