1. yup I think that's the one I'm using, I replaced Gunslinger's with those Mods from MadMatt's site. And yes they are very nice, the smoek is quite black and sooty. Are there any other Fire smoke and Explosion mods out there worthy of consideration? Thanks again -tom w
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: Tom, Pick up the explosion mod from Maddmatt's web site. It is under the Special effects category. I really like the explosions. Jeff

Hi Jeff Thanks for reply. I was wondering who is the Author and if that is the set with the nice big secondary explosions. I have a good set in my game now but I'm not sure where I got them from, or who to credit for their design. thanks -tom w
 3. Hi I can't get to the Gun Mod file when I click the image, I get the "sin.zip" profiles and no guns. am I the only one with this problem? I'm on a Mac using Netscape Comunicator 4.7 anyone else? curious? -tom w
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by FurballMagGP: A bit large, but a change from the grey. (now available at the FBM CMRC)

I think it looks nice. It is different from the Grey We'll look forward to your final release. -tom w
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Dr. Brian: So still, the question remains, does the game model subsequent shots weaking armor? It's not in the manual (which is very vauge).

I do not believe weakened armour from previous shot is modeled. If it was modeled we would have been debating it and arguring about HOW it was modeled by now.... so I would say no it is not modeled IMO. 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Chupacabra: Tom - I don't think that this would in fact be the case. At the Bovington Tank Museum, they have on display a couple of chunks of armor plate which have been used for penetration tests. These plates were maybe 3'x3', and had been shot with something like 20-30 shells each. Some of the shells had not penetrated, some of the shells had gone clean through, some of the shells had partially penetrated and were still stuck in the plate. Some of the shells which had not penetrated had caused flaking. However, even after being penetrated by up to 30 shells in such a small area, the plate had retained its overall strength. That is to say, there didn't seem to be any indication that the plate was any weaker overall on the 30th shot than it was on the 1st. This would lead me to believe that armor flaking would not lead to a significant weakening of a tank's armor, unless by some incredibly poor luck, it happened to be struck twice in the exact same spot. I imagine the probibilities against that happening are astronomical, however. This is, of course, a completely anecdotal and unscientific answer, and if anyone has some hard data on this, I'd enjoy seeing it. Cheers

OK Thanks for the insight. I had NO idea, so I should most definately withdraw my previous suggestion. Sorry for the wasted time and bandwidth and thanks to Chupacabra for the clarification. -tom w [This message has been edited by aka_tom_w (edited 10-23-2000).]
 10. Ok this is Post of the Week Material Right here..... "AR Member posted 10-23-2000 09:12 AM I want CM condoms. ------------------ It gets better each time as long as it's never with the same woman. Al Bundy IP: Logged PeterNZer Member posted 10-23-2000 09:13 AM Hmm. Penetration data is wrong." That's what this damn game needs: MORE PENETRATION! -tom w
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Dr. Brian: On that twist, I saw a message that said internal armor flaking. What the heck does that mean with respect to the functionality of the AFV? Is it more susceptible? What effect on game play?

Now THAT would be ground breaking realism! Suppose an AFV takes a frontal upper hull hit and the result is "internal armor flaking" the VERY next round from any weapon to strike that frontal upper hull aspect SHOULD be a catastrophic penetration. Just about any round at any range. I think that maybe too much to ask from CMBO but a really nice suggestion for CM2 ! Virtually any hit on a surface that has previously had the result of "internal armor flaking" on it could be now modeled weaker and lead to any easy penetration by just about any round from any tank's main weapon. Now that would be unparralled realism! Its always good to AIM high -tom w (Charles can now summon the firing squad, has he and Steve, have proabably had about enough of my crazy suggestions )
 12. Hi Many here really like Gunslinger's Great toned down texture mods. There has been some suggestions that his smoke fire and explosion graphics are not the best out there. I'm not using his, but I'm not really sure where I got the ones I like. I would like to hear recommendations for the BEST smoke fire and explosions graphics mods to download and use. I Have a name Danius (?) some how associated with my smoke fire and explosions files as mod creator? Does that ring a bell with anyone? What smoke fire and explosions modified graphics are you using, what have you tried and what have you compared them too? Who has done the nicest job on Big Secondary explosions? This all came up some time ago, but I really don't know whose smoke fire and explosions mods I'm running, but I like them , and I'm certian they are not Gunslingers, (Sorry Gunslinger) comments? suggestions? -tom w [This message has been edited by aka_tom_w (edited 10-23-2000).]

 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Gunslinger: Guys. not to worry, Techware is revamping its site and when it is finished the Combat Mission add-ons will be put back up. I had over 2 gigs of data on my server and had to sort out the needed from the non. Currently Techware's main page is http://techware.gtinsider.com Click on the Sim Enhancement section and when Combat Mission is added that is where it will be. Sorry for disappearing but I started my own PC company and have been trying to make some money to pay some bills. 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Gunslinger: ROFLMAO... Yes, you do have me pegged pretty well. However, the reason the CM downloads were gone is I started my own business and had to redo Techware. I am slowly added my stuff back onto my Techware site. I had almost 2 gigs of stuff on my site. And 1 gig of it wa garbage data I didn't need. Anywho, I'll get it back up when I can catch my breath. James "quite fickle" Wohlever

Hi Gunslinger I LOVED your mods so much I flet compelled to share them with other folks here. Good to see you back. Hope you don't mind. 16. Hi Kip "Whatever the actual reasons Charles has for the different figures “in effect” what he is saying is that US and British projectiles were of lower quality than German projectiles, in the case of the 17pdr very much lower quality." That was a brilliant logical rational presentation. I'm not entirely sure I agree with it, as I would be interested in what your theory or formula tells us about the long range penetration of those big guns like the 17 pdr and the long 88. anyway I did want to comment on this suggestion you make: "Whatever the actual reasons Charles has for the different figures “in effect” what he is saying is that US and British projectiles were of lower quality than German projectiles, in the case of the 17pdr very much lower quality." Another way of looking at this (and this has its problems too, due to the nature of its broad generality), it COULD be suggested that ON the OTHER hand Charles is modeling not the lower quality of the projectile, BUT the general overall higher quality of the Axis Armour. this could be another way of saying, the Allies had inferior armour (by about 11%) it seems from your calucalations and the Germans had superior armour, by about 11%, NOW this is a LARGE braod generality and I have EVERY confidence that Steve and Charles did not make some conscious decision to model armour penetration in this broad general way, I'm suggesting that the other side of the coin is that the armour is superior not the quality of the round is inferior. It is my feeling that other than the fact that the game models too many misses at close range the penetration model and the result of the hit seems to be modeled quite WELL. Either that or having played CM for so long I have just gotten used to it and now feel the short range penetration model is "normal" Great presentation of facts, data, logic and conclusions! Nice Job. I say its the superior armour, not the inferior quality of the round that could be at issue here . -tom w [This message has been edited by aka_tom_w (edited 10-23-2000).]

 22.
quote:
Originally posted by Oddball_E8: cus id really like ta have one ya know!

We are all sitting out here just waiting with our credit cards ready... How about this BTS? Just let us Pre-Order the next BIG thing (expansion Vehicle pack) and see how many orders you get. If you don't get enough orders to make it worth your while, then just don't build the new vehicle expansion pack. (you know the minute you cancel the project everyone and their brother will send you their credit card number and pre-order) I wonder if you could hire one new person full time for the expansion pack project, depending on the strength of your expansion pack pre-orders sales this may be something to consider. I figure most of us here would really like the opportunity to "re-invest " in BTS by buying somthing (anything) inbetween our CM1 purchase and the long wait for the CM2 Eastern Front game. Just trying to help. -tom w
