  1. Nice post there Boeman. I think I quit playing after Ultima 3. I prefered the D&D campaign worlds to that of Ultima and I just never got into MMOGs, way too many *******s for me to enjoy the games.

I put Garriot right up there with Sid and Charles on my Mt. Rushmoore of the computer gaming world.

  2. Rounds landing close to a building have a chance to damage the occupants. The larger the round and the closer the hit the better the chance. One thing you might try is using a small area target centered on the building. That way the rounds might be distributed more. If you use a point target then a larger proportion of the rounds will strike the building itself, which may not be what you want. (I haven't checked this out in any systematic way so it may just be a matter of perception.)

  3. Very nice. Thanks for the link and welcome to BFC.

Missile failures are modelled in the game. I asked and Charles said they were. I think my failure rate is about what the blog states.

The Javelin guy would have a lot easier time if he secured the missile on the top of his ruck. Where he had it tends to unbalance you and make it hard to stand. I was always a grab the straps and flip the ruck over my head kind of guy, but everyone has their own techniques for dealing with heavy equipment.

  4. If you suspect that a building is an enemy position then prep it with fire or obscure it with smoke. It is very simple to keep people outside from seeing into a building while allowing you to see out. Simply turning out the lights will make glass one way (if it is darker inside then you cannot see inside) and some mesh curtains will allow you to see out while keeping others from looking in. You must assume that the building is occupied.
