  1. I also think if they can nail Normandy, they will have their first real commercial success.

If you mean with "commercial success" the amount of revenue a game generates, then we've already had several substantial hits. CMSF in fact probably was the biggest commercial success, or at least not far behind CMBO.

If you mean with "commercial success" that you will find the game in every retail store and headlining news on all the gaming sites, then nope, that will not happen. Those times are over and it was us that have pulled the plug (before it was too late).

  2. One Question:

I own the CDV Version of CMBB, is it possible to install the 1.04 Patch over this version?

The patch is *supposed* to work with any versions out there. I say "supposed" because it's impossible for us to test each and every combination. There are dozens of versions of CMBB out there, some many many years old.

In either case, you should however make sure to upgrade to 1.03 first.

PS. You should also only apply the upgrade if you actually have Vista AND if you actually have problems with the graphics :)

  3. When I did a fresh install I went to start a game before the patch and all the missions and everything were there. As soon as I use the new .exe, though, only three missions show up in the list. Permissions and administrator/user rights were set for both versions and only the fresh install without the Vista patch had all the misisons.

Since your report we have been testing this on all sorts of combinations of versions etc. and cannot replicate this issue. Are you sure that you didn't accidentally install the upgrade over a demo version?

  4. The file missing under #8 is what makes this whole thing not work. If you don't have this file, your game won't work. If this file is missing, then that's because your Windows has blocked the file from being written into your Windows directory due to your privacy/security settings (such as User Access Control, or it could also be your anti-virus/internet security program).

My suggestion would be to re-install with full admin rights. This is usually enough to have that file written into your Windows folder. You can also try to manually copy it there. In order to obtain that file, please submit a ticket at www.battlefront.com/helpdesk and we'll email it to you.

I'll have CMSF added to the list, however, as you noticed it's not difficult to figure out what the main executable is, and if we list every single game over time that list will be very very long ;)

  5. Guys, especially with Adam now banned and not being able to respond*, and also because the ban is permanent, there is no point in further discussing this. I am locking this thread as well.

    * On a side note, please note that our forum rules have been recently updated. Posting "messages" from banned users (this includes cross-posting from another forum) is now against the forum rules and will lead to Infractions.

  6. "The result is a "meh" reception, which is a really bad thing since no matter what you think about the game direction a lot of good people have invested a lot of their life energy into this module and the reception shouldn't be "meh"."

Keep in mind that the "reception" we care about reaches far beyond just this forum. Only about 1 in 10 customers ever even register here, and even fewer actually post.

The few people who seem to have nothing better to do with their lives than hang out in these forums and complain and complain and complain are hardly a "reception". At least not one we would care much about. Especially not if they post minutes after the demo was uploaded, and before the British Force module is even released ;) (I know it's hard to believe that but it's true! After reading some of the posts here I almost had forgotten that neither the patch nor the module are out yet! :))

(On a side note: isn't it strange that these people keep hanging around here? Because one would think that there should be SO many MUCH better games to play out there, they should have no time left to be here...)

Anyway... What we do care about is that fans of the game are able to post their opinion, too, and discuss the game. And as much as allowing criticism is important for a healthy discussion (if we'd stifle it completely here - which would be easy to do - we would not be able to constantly improve), it seems that recently this is becoming more and more difficult. We've been receiving emails about this from people who congratulate us on the game but do not want to do it on the forum. This has happened before by the way (it's rare that something truly new happens on a forum that is nearing 10 years of age) and was followed by bannings of some folks who became so... let's say, emotionally invested... that they simply made it impossible for fans to post about the game they like.

If the some people here continue along the same lines, the consequences will be similar.

As it is, v1.20 is the very best version of the game yet, and people are noticing. Judging by the number of demo downloads so far, by what I am hearing from the press, and the few heroic fans ;) who are posting here able and willing to defend their opinions are all indicating the same thing. And it's pretty hot. We're going to pre-print a few extra copies just to be able to keep up with expected demand ;)

  7. It took a couple of tries but it looks like we have been able to fix it. However, we need some final testing and since it's a weekend it looks like the release will have to wait until monday. Everyone who bought or buys the CMAK upgrade (or full versions) will be able to simply re-download from their customer account once the upload the corrected versions. We will also post an announcement once the file has been updated.

  8. Yes, good idea. The upcoming Empires of Steel has in fact pretty much that identical function (except it's not linked to the Repository but an in-game sharing platform for mods and custom maps and unit sets etc.) and as we expand our multiplayer/web offerings in the future something like this could make it in eventually.
