  1. Oh, I almost forgot. I wanted to respond to the TV vs monitor thing. I have been using my OLED tv as my monitor for the last year and it has been just great. An investment for sure, but my very wise and frugal grandma used to tell me: "Even though you may not have much money it is a true-ism that in order to save money, you must spend money." Meaning that holding off until you have enough to buy quality things will ultimately save money in the long run. She knew of what she spoke.
  2. Thanks all for so much good advice, I really appreciate it. So I am now going to list the basic config of the new system I will buy from Origin. Please let me know if any of you see any potential issues with what I have tried to put together..... CPU: Intel I9900K 8 core(5.0Ghz) MB: Asus tuf z390m- pro gaming Wi-Fi MEMORY: 16 or 32gb Corsair Vengeance 3200Mhz (either 2 8's or 2 16's) GPU: Nvidia 8gb GeForce Rtx 2080 super founders edition Power: 750W Rmx plus gold Corsair Storage: 1Tb Samsung 970 Evo plus NVME M.2 & 1 Tb SSD drive.   3. Hello all-- My old computer died a fiery death and I know from playing these games for so many years that there are some video cards, (and other things?), That just will not run the games. I apologise if the answer to my issue is already on one of the threads, I just couldn't find it. So please lend me your knowledge for I am a serious lover of battlefront and their superb work. I am also really happy to get any advice you can give on who the best gaming PC Maker's are. Have been looking so far at Falcon nw, origin, digital storm and a few others but without some good advice about what will and will not run my favorite games I feel as though I am grouping in the dark....   4. Have been playing these games for years, I mean YEARS. Love them, big Battlefront Supporter. Long story short. Win 7, older Laptop machine with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (I know, I know) But here's the thing: All the new updated versions of CM games run fine (except FI, but that seems to be install issue--John from support and I are working on it) so logically (which may not be my strongest suit) this new version of SF (2) should also work, right? The install and licensing went smooth(ish) but when I start the thing I get that most annoying, useless umbrella message "Shock Force 2 Has stopped Working" and "Windows will contact you if they figure it out"..... Has anyone ever been contacted by Windows? NOT. Please, if anyone has an idea of how to get around this issue please let me know. I do have a ticket already. Thanks

Hello All- So I have a slightly older laptop from HP that has been playing all the CM titles faithfully for years and now all of a sudden they will no longer even load (Logo pops up then--POOOF!!) get "CM Has Stopped Working and has shut down" Message. Also now get a message at Boot up "kbdsynch.exe no longer working". I have been pursuing various options with John in Tech support (Great guy everyone should praise his dedication) but so far we are stuck... What we do know (or think we know) is that it is most likely a video card/driver issue... The computer has a dual graphics card set-up (Radeon 7850M & Intell HD 4000) that has only ever been a problem, but despite this it has worked well for a very long time, and most likely the problem has to do with the recent AMD driver update. If any one else has had this problem or a similar one please let us know what you have figured out because it is now going on a month without these great games which for me have become central to the way I relax and ease my worried mind. I have attached a dxdiag txt file to this below for anyone to look at if that helps... What we have tried: 1) Clean uninstall of AMD drivers and reinstall of newest ones (which I think are actually the problem based on forum posts on amd website and others) which I was talked through by an AMD Tech support guy--who after it didn't work told me to go to HP for help--but they are money grubbing maggots who want to charge a $60 service fee every time you call tech support when the warranty has expired on your product--Which I am morally opposed to as well as too poor to afford. 2)Just about every combination of settings in the "Catalyst Controller" which is the AMD switchable graphics software. Please, if anyone knows anyone that may be able to help me out here I would be very grateful and if you live in the Bay Area, CA I would happily buy you a beer or a soda or whatever you would like...   8. Just to update: I just spent another 2 hours with AMD trying to fix this and after some trails and tribulations got no love--Games still do not play. Steps I went through: Ran Clean un-install program Re-installed HP Driver SP56896.exe and this does not fix it. The guy suggested re-installing the games to see if that would do it, but I wanted to get your advice first... I also had him help me try to track down which of the older AMD drivers I should have to try out. This was confusing to put it mildly. But as of now I have 2 older drivers downloaded, but I have not tried them out of fear frankly. What are your suggestions now? Thanks Joshua
  9. Hey Schrullenhaft Wow, thanks so much, that's a fair bit of information. Could you help me out(in my confusion) by synthesizing it down to a couple (or as many as needed) points maybe outlining the steps I need to take and in what order you would advise performing them? That would be a big help. One thing that is clear so far is that there is no way that I have found to specify the use of only "One" card for "all" apps... Within the Catalyst controller you are able only to specify, by program (that you have already tried to run by the way--which seems stupid) whether a program uses "Power Saving" or "High Performance"... Also, re your assumption in the first paragraph regarding my using a restore point and re-installing hp drivers--one of the main things that angered me about the whole AMD experience is that during the first attempt to install the new drivers some error occurred which prompted me to call their tech support in the first place. One of the issues was that the install process was supposed to create a "Restore point" as part of it's programming---It did not do this!! So I am without a recent enough restore point that might fix this thanks to AMD. The tech guy then ran me through installing the newest drivers, which did not fix the problem in fact it then made it worse. So I then called a friend of mine who helped me track down the very hard to find HP drivers (which to answer another question of yours in the top paragraph) for the system which is a: HP ENVY 17t 3200... I have not yet found or tried installing any drivers from Intel. So, if you would be so kind, can you try and give me some direction as to in what order I should be addressing this really confusing issue?   10. Hi MikeyD and Schrullenhaft First I just want to thanks you both for taking the time to look at this, it is very frustrating. Schrullenhaft, you are right about that dxiag file and I went searching for older ones I may have saved and I made a new one, all of which I added to the forum below. Please take a look and tell me what you see because most of it is Greek to me. AS I am sure you guys know John in tech support has a "Real Job" so his time is spare for as in depth an issue as this is turning out to be for me-- To fill you in on some history--at first it was only the Italy title that wouldn't load, which led me to call amd and update the drivers, which then led to none of the titles playing...AHHHH, sorry, very frustrating!! Yes, it is win 7 64bit (and there are no updates that the system or Microsoft feel are "Important".) And I am now suffering some PTSD around making any further moves without some guidance from more knowledgeable people--Hence why I have been waiting on John, whom I also like a great deal as a person, for whatever that is worth. Your question about which card the system is using is a very good one and I believe, using the "Catalyst Controller" most of the options there have been tried. But at this point, in all honesty, things are feeling kinda messy... I loosing track of what has been done or has not been tried. Sorry. MikeyD, We(John Costello and I) tried the admin move and some of the other basic stuff (i.e sent him screen shots of data files, removing mods, re-installing full version, etc...) and no love. Not sure about having the Ver 4 shortcut, why do you ask? I think john and I went through that, but could be wrong... Wouldn't the data file show whether the permission has been deleted? Part of the confusion at this point is that all the games have stopped working, so I am not too sure which game we are talking about here. I sure could use some help organizing this recovery process, which I suppose should focus on one game first, and then spread out to the others, yes? I could show you a screen shot if you want. Listen friends, I am over my head here, if you haven't been able to tell, so any and all help you can give would be very appreciated.   11. Hey Ian--Thanks so very much for your time. Unfortunately John and I have also found those articles ourselves and, while it has not yet led to a fix, it is part of the current hypothesis that we are trying to piece together about how to fix this ridiculous issue. If you have any further ideas please don't hesitate, at this point any and all ideas need to be considered. Where we are right now: Partly because John does this on top of his other job, His "Real Gig", it is taking awhile for things to happen (I am doing my best to be patient) and because I am operating with some PTSD around doing anything "by myself" without corroboration from a more Tech savvy individual, since the last move I made ended up with my situation going from just Italy Gl not working to every single CM game not working.... AHHHHHH!!! Sorry, very frustrating for me considering how much I love these games. What I have done on my own is search around for some older AMD drivers in the hope that sometime soon these may provide the answer. I am reluctant however to make this move on my own, so if you know anyone that could help or if you yourself would be willing I am need of a guru... Thanks again for the input. I will continue to post to the forum as it develops. I also just looked back over the dxdiag files I have saved sorta randomly over the time and noticed weird stuff...   13. Hey there--Sounds a lot like the problem I am still having where all the games played just fine until 3 weeks ago and now not a single one will load!!!! I am using a computer with dual graphics cards (radeon 7850M & Intell HD 4000) and John and I from Tech support have not yet been able to fix it... We do think it has to do with the latest drivers from AMD (whose forums are full of equally bad issues---they really could care less if older titles still work according to the horses mouth) please let me know what if anything you do to fix your issue--it may end up helping me too.
