Just to let you know, only kim2, OverHead, and myself showed up yesterday. kim got OverHead to chat! It also looks like OverHead went from newb to semi-vet in only 9 days! Given, kim and I were trying to attack Slug Fest on objective mode, but OverHead did a good job raiding our rear-it cost us the round. There's an example I'll have to cite when a new player wants to know how much practice they need before they play with us. I'll tell them they only need 1 week of 1-hour a day practice. On a somewhat related note, if anyone can make it this Wednesday or Sunday, I'll be there. And you'll have to go easy on me, my aim is rusty from lack of recent battles.

It's great to be helpful! I've been missing action myself recently, given no one's been eager to hop on. I'll be watching the forums for you. Here's hoping some others show up too.

It sure will. I run DT on a integrated GeForce 6150 at 800x600, with terrain quality at 3/4, view distance near max, AA off, and most of the other settings off, and it works just fine. Though it has a hard time on Sea Cliffs, but whose hardware doesn't? Plus, with your probably superior CPU (mine's a Turion 64 X2 TL-52), it should work just fine.

I was just on the server where I found someone. I'd seen that someone was on the server and had gone to see if it was Jung. It turned out to be a guy named OverHead. He was a newb, period, who didn't talk at all throughout the entire round. I was playing as Water, and had no trouble seizing the base, despite his mining the back door, (this was on Raid) and he made some bad mistakes (dropping a Bacchus in full view of my ad hoc defense is a bad idea). He left just before the round ended, so sorry Jung if I robbed you of an opponent. Another newb like RAT@$$ perhaps? Speaking of which, haven't seen him since February.

It's news to me too. I'd love to have some fun with him sometime, assuming he plays the game. And ok0510, what's your in-game name? Mine's the same name you see here. In that case, I'd be terrified if either showed up. Right now, Jung always scares me. With jby, I tend to get complacent, and beaten. My addendum: If anyone else other than Jung and another player joins, I will too, to keep the sides balanced. 2v2 with Jung and 2 others sounds quite good to me.

So you beat him with your own turrets drops on Dead Gulch? I've done it before, and in doing so made an all new type of turret drop. Feel free to ask me about it sometime. We have online battles on Sunday at 3 PM EST (GMT -4), and on Wednesday at 7:30 PM EST. Think you could join us for Sunday? If you do, watch out for me. And was your battle with Jung today? P.S. Oren_m and Stonewall showed up tonight, and we had some good games. Stoney said he might make it Sunday. How many others can make it? Ani? Kim? jby? And I hope that Schturm guy can make it too. He said he plays DropTeam on a LAN with his friends. Imagine if all of them could make it to our games!

Maybe we could have 2 tournaments, 1 this Sunday, and the other this Wednesday. We should probably make it 2v2, 3v3, or as many people that show up, because I don't want to be alone for my first tourney. Sound good?

Well, I was late for dinner, and I thought the newest Mythbusters episode was on. Turns out it wasn't. Ouch on the ping, mate. Watch out for Phonan, he's dangerous with that thing. He likes to use it to hoist you up and then drop you. Don't worry. If you don't get line of sight to the target, the strike will be less accurate, so it's no surprise. Remember me telling you that the 20mm was a chainsaw? It is, and at close range, it can kill a Thor from the side pretty quickly. Here's how I made that miracle. I hit Control-N to bring up the squad menu, and checked the hold position option. This caused the other infantry, including the engineer, to wait on the top of the hill, while I took 1 grunt at a time on my runs to the tower. 1 grunt is a lot harder to notice than a whole squad. I got killed 2 times, but the 3rd time I succeeded in making it into the tower. And this is where a awesome thing comes into play: If you get 1 grunt into a building, the other grunts in your squad will be teleported right to you, including the engineer. Sometimes you have to be bold. When it works, it's called audacity. When it doesn't, it gets called retarded. I did lose 2 grunts in my tower capture run, but the 3rd one did get in, and the capture was completed. Plus, infantry in buildings can still fire on enemy units; while capturing, my infantry killed 1 Shrike.

Yes jby, that Dead Gulch round was great, just like all the other games I've played there! Once more, we showcased ion units for Stonewall and oren_m to see. And oren_m, I hope you've learned that standard ballistics aren't always the way to go! jby, about that better plan for Slug Fest in objective mode-could you PM me about it? I'm curious.

Nothing personal, mate. I know the Sunday time doesn't work for you, it was an outburst of despair after even the creator of the Euro Wednesday time (Aniruddha, aka ZenGentoo) failed to show up. Haven't seen you on the Thursday morning/Wednesday night time lately, come to think of it. Pardon me while I have a strange interlude: People have been dropping off on the Wednesday time, but Sundays have remained good, which is odd. :confused:

Actually, I remember finding those dark_au threads while searching for other stuff, it had just slipped my mind. They kind of remind me of how I left the Steel Beasts community a few months back. It started over a trailer for a movie that was incredibly poor in taste. I complained, and pointed to it as evidence of something I had elaborated on in another thread. Soon the thread filled with personal attacks and offensive .gifs and that b****** admin Homer just supported it. To make a long story short, I left in a firestorm, and never looked back.
