  1. I'm especially curious about which models will be included in the final. We should know pretty soon regardless.
  2. Gentlemen, I cannot believe what I just read. Baseless slander of a good man who has worked tirelessly to keep our country free and secure during a time of constant grave threat is outrageous. This may not be a forum for politics, but it has remained a place for the rigorous pursuit of objective consideration of facts. Your malignant remarks carried none of that spirit whatsoever. Your personal lexicon may not include the definition of a conscience formed from a relationship with God, or a job done in the image of that conscience, but I am grateful to the very core of my being that both our President and Attorney General rule in that fashion. Courage and Faith.
  3. I had no idea I worked on this... but my name is attached... great mysteries abound! Who is this other Shep? The Original Shep
  4. *bump* Even a partial list would be nice. Just curious at this point what we might expect, and hoping to hear a little something.
  5. All, I lost family in WWII also. I'm named after a great uncle who was killed for his race... a Native American in 45th Infantry Division. I also had another great uncle who survived the Bataan Death March. The people of New Mexico re-enact the Death March every April, and I suppose it may cause nightmares to well up again for the survivors and families who were affected, but the benefits still far outweigh the hurt. People need to know what happened there. If the scenario respectfully represents the Warsaw Ghetto Jews' fight for freedom and against evil, then it helps to ensure their fight was not in vain. Rune did the right thing by broaching the subject first. That's a respectful approach.
  6. And another thing; that's an American Robin, not European...
  7. April of 44 QB, south region, German armored force (I wanted to check out those Italian tanks). I also chose a StuG IIIF/8. It has pink (pink!) behind the road wheel textures and a little on the tip of the muzzle. Thanks for the patch - looks great. Hope we get a few more vehicle models before it's over.
  8. I've been on this forum since about its beginning. First as a lurker, and then as an occasional participant. I remember how Madmatt was before he was a member of the BTS/BFC team: he was an eager, frequent poster. He should have a great frame of reference for the kind of anticipation that we experience for a great product. I've had my less than polite meltdowns here, so I think it's not at all right to condemn Madmatt. I hope my words are taken in a positive light. Their reproofs are intended as such.
  9. That's not quite true. BFC announced the release date of CMBB a couple of months or so before the event. Your assumption that everyone here on this forum knows what you know also falls short of the truth. There is nothing to keep Madmatt from being polite to a customer and kind enough to issue a general statement on the status of their work in progress. Nothing except his own nature.
  10. I don't know Japinard as a person or much of his history on this forum. However, just from the actual text, his request was put in polite and respectful and complimentary terms. To which he receives this reply: The only explanation I can find for such testiness is that must be hell to have a successful product, and people who are genuinely eager to see new content and refinement.
  11. An update on the progress would be a small kindness. I really thought it would out this week.
  12. Friends, I had the privilege this past evening of sharing a meal and conversation with Tom and Sandee Swanson. Tom is the brother, and Sandee the widow of CPT Jon E. Swanson, U.S. Army. Although CPT Swanson died in action more than 30 years ago, only in this past year were his remains recovered, and was he awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. I am narrating his biography as a part of my church's observation of Veteran's Day (I'm a pastor), and the Swansons were extraordinarily kind to meet with me and tell the story of this remarkable man. I asked Mrs. Swanson what she would tell my church about her husband, and she said without hesitation: Jon would like your congregation to know, we would like them to know, that he died for freedom, and that he totally believed in the idea of freedom in this nation. You can read more about CPT Swanson here: Arlington Cemetery Web Page
  13. We don't have a list of fixes/additions yet, but I have a strong suspicion this patch is going to rival many other entire games in its content and quality. It sounds to me like it will be huge. I also have the feeling it will still be some weeks before we see it.
  14. Have it. It's more than worth your while, if you enjoy the genre.
  15. Thinking through this one. Sounds at first like a bug to me, but... It depends on what is being grown in the "grainfield," and when. Sunflowers, corn, and other tall crops may completely block an LOS in August. Early in the season they would not, but in both cases they would provide ample concealment. As for rough and brush terrain types, I think they're modelling foliage and rocks that are 3 or 4 feet tall. You can see over that for quite some distance... But... you would have to stand to engage a target through it. MGs would be ruled out entirely, and shooting in the standing position isn't exactly the most comfortable or accurate way to fire. And besides, enemy infantry has an annoying habit of hitting the ground when fired at (and thus becoming entirely concealed). Infantry using Move and Fast Move commands should be visible... assault and advance less so... sneak hardly at all. Steppe is supposed to represent tall grass, and should be about the same as rough and brush.
  16. Please include me. Send it along to: shepfrbc@mindspring.com Thanks, Mark
  17. I am bearing my own burden on the countdown, since I am leaving Sunday to spend a week or two with my ailing father. It is exceedingly doubtful that CMBB will arrive in Saturday's mail, since I live in Colorado, and it ships on Friday - and I don't care so much. My dad fought in the war that we simulate, and some things are actually way bigger than gaming. It's a greater debt of gratitude for freedom than to just have to wait an extra week or two to play this game. Sit down at your computer, boot the disk, and thank God for the men who made it possible. My father told me an unforgettable story of Okinawa a few years back. He had gone ashore from his aircraft carrier on a supply detail, having volunteered so that he could check in on his best friend, an infantryman in the 96th I.D. Arriving at their headquarters, he was informed that his friend had fallen to sniper fire... I have knelt at the grave of Junior Ladd of Achille, Oklahoma with my father, and saw for myself the renewed grief of fifty years past lined on his face. Now his time draws near and I want more than anything to be with him, and to utter what thanks I can for his life.
  18. This sounds like a job for... ...Wreck's Rules. CMBB version should be out in a few months from release date, from what I understand.
  19. The picture of the map editor spurred my imagination a little. Looking closely, there are some of the new urban features present. I looks like there is a factory or two right in the middle of the town.
  20. Any translators out there? Has this been posted before? Game Captain
  21. Seems like your cyber-soldiers should be able to both abandon and re-crew their crew-served weapons.
  22. Sorry about the thread redundancy... Didn't see the similar thread there. For me: 1) Something a bit smaller in a premade scenario, hopefully in Stalingrad. 2) Gotta check out those Finns! 3) Make or find a scenario with the M17. Maybe a couple of M17s vs. a company of Germans. 4) And much, much more. Gonna be a months long honeymoon.
