  1. After my experience with Theatre of War, I'm taking the Game Spot review to heart. I'll pass on this one.
  2. I've seen a lot of Western developers who tanked at making PC games. The WWII plane sim they developed was rated extemely high. ToW has a ways to go yet, but I wouldn't condemn Russian development collectively. Let's focus on this game. There are still problems. Maybe some patches will help. John
  3. Yes, very unwieldy. John
  4. The slope of the T34/76 was sufficient to disrupt the Munroe effect. That means the shaped charge may not have time to form properly because of the angle. It did happen, but I don't know if the game is attempting to simulate that phenomenon, or whether it's just a bug. John
  5. I guess Codemasters dropped it for a reason. I'm having similar issues. I played through the training missions and attempted to knock out the AT gun crew with the sniper team. The crew had an uncanny ability to track the snipers crawling through cover. I'm not giving up yet. John
  6. Still no urban combat I presume? John
  7. So, what are the characteristics of the new sharpshooter? I've ordered a "cone of fire" and seen these guys ignore perfect targets of opportunity. Is there a range within which they will not fire? Is there a percentage of visability under which a fire command is ignored? Sharpshooters are virtually impossible to spot now unless you are right on top of them. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just different. I'm just trying to determine the sharpshooters attributes.
  8. I have noticed that the MG42 jams frequently. I thought this was a very reliable weapon. It takes a veteran 6 man crew a long time to clear the weapon. Does anyone have historical data on this?
  9. I am also a fan of DoD, but there is a special place on my hard-drive for anything CM.
  10. I got mine today,(Virginia)...yahoo!!!! [ September 23, 2002, 03:06 PM: Message edited by: John Kelly ]
  11. It's still too new for me to make an intelligent assessment. It seems to be much improved. John
  12. I have played Capitalistdoginchina's scenario, and I must say, it is one of the most enjoyable I've played in a long time. The timing of his reinforcent pool, the design of the map and the research involved all manage to come together in splendid fashion to create a superb example of why we love CM. Cheers to this gentleman and his hard work. It's senarios like this that keep CM alive on so many hard drives.
  13. With all these captured German tanks, why can't Spielberg and the history channel depict actual vehicles instead of the pale immatations seen in "Saving Private Ryan" and "Battle Stations." I must say, "Band of Brothers" appears to have found an actual Jagdpanther.
  14. GameSpot reports that CM2 will be released in the fourth quarter of this year (we're getting close). If that's the case, will we see a demo soon?
  15. I like the concept of a scenario or operation beginning with charges already planted. The code would have to be written in such a fashion that the charges would explode on a designated turn (to be determined by the designer). Then, as a designer selects terrain features such as houses, trenches, rubble etc., exploding bridges would also be selected and placed along with the detonation turn. Something to ponder, nicht wahr?
