xian
See image: Is there a way for the AI to figure out that it is continually missing the target and therefore stop firing shells into the ground? It seems like the slope causes an aiming issue. That's fine. But can the AI be programmed to realise its mistake?
Sergei
I beg your pardon? What are you asking? Who is missing the target, you or the AI?
xian
The AI opponent. The AI tank was trying to fire at my troops behind the low hedge. It continued to fire all its ammo despite every shot hitting the ground well short of the target.
mjkerner
Sounds like the AI is emulating me! Last night I kept firing my Sherman at an AT gun on a hill about 400 yds away. He stopped firing back after I pumped about 8 rounds into the position...turns out it was in hull down and I was blasting the slope immediately in front of him instead of the trench/sandbagged postion itself. But I only knew that when I reviewed the "footage" after the turn. I did suppress it for a while. So knowing the AI could do what I did instead of being uber-knowledgable is a good thing, AFAIAC.
xian
Er yes - but in this case the distance involved is rather short and a tanker would have seen his rounds not hitting the hedge - especially as they destroyed a house right in front of him.
