permanent666
what do you think - to simulate defensive combat more means of communication are necessary. For the allies it is simple just ad some jeeps and you can keep c2 even in remote areas. the germans don't have this luxury. so please add some kind of static radio or field telephone or at least a kübelwagen equipped with a radio for the germans.
akd
Adding radios to bunkers (or adding a special "radio bunker") has been discussed as an interim measure.
Runyan99
Well yes. If you read "Clay Pigeons of St. Lo" the battalion commander seems to rely on his phones constantly. I'm a little suprised the phones seem not to be represented at all.

Statisoris
/Agreed, another possible solution for improving C2 in all sorts of situations would be a cherry pickable "Radio/Comms Team" in the specialist teams menu. You could purchase one of these teams and place them at whatever roster spot you needed them and they would act like a fully or maybe semi-mobile C2 link for your nearby commanders. What I mean by semi mobile would be something like a medium mortar's pack-up time but for the heavy long range radio/comms/encryption equipment.
Bimmer
Having participated in the last thread on this, I won't recapitulate my suggestion here, but an additional thought comes to mind: I wonder if phones could be utilized similarly to TRPs. Purchase "Field Phone Locations" as fortifications, place them where you like, and units within a radius of the point would then have access to the phone net. May not be feasible in the code, but seems like it might be a flexible way to implement this very important feature if it is.
c3k
These are nice ideas. One thing to remember, runners/telephone/pigeons ( ) are simulated. I had an XO team (I think) which had access to artillery, yet they had no radio. These guys were driving around in a jeep. Their delay time for artillery was on the order of 11 minutes. Their ability to communicate corrections was ABSTRACTED. This abstraction represents the other comms that are out there. You don't always need a radio for a team to be able to communicate up the chain when it is otherwise isolated. Ken
Statisoris
Lol, I was just imagining being able to actually purchase a "Pigeon Unit" rofl
