Childress
Is there in-game penalty in bringing down buildings? I was playing Barkmann's Corner as les Boches, but was thinking about how the first thing I do in a PBEM would be to collapse all the chateaux with area afire. I'm sure it wasn't uncommon but one guesses there were some inhibitions and/or guidelines present. If not among the beastly Germs, at least for the Allies. Whatever your feelings about the French.
Blackcat
Well given the Allies were happy to flatten a whole town (Caen) when it suited their needs I don't think you need be squeamish playing as either side. It was full-on total war, after all.
ChrisND
The scenario designer can dictate this if he wishes with Preserve objectives.
