Gunfreak
I'm playing around with the quick battle thing, but I'm getting my ass kicked, I've tried to give my self air suport, but I can never use it, always say unavalable, I can use mortars and off map arty, but never air.
akd
Only dedicated Forward Observers can call in air strikes. But be careful, air support in this day and time is just as likely to kick your ass some more, rather than the enemy's.
MikeyD
I just now double-checked. Even Battalion commanders don't have privileges. Definitely needs the FO, even for 'initial bombarment' opening phase. My quick test stated arrival time was 10 minutes, actual arrival time closer to 14.
SNAFU
My quick test stated arrival time was 10 minutes, actual arrival time closer to 14. Yeah. And don't leave those fly-boys alone with your wife for over 14 minutes either.
zukkov
this about sums up american combined arms tactics during ww2. :-p Big Joe: [shouting to the captured German Colonel] Look! We're not worried about the German army, we've got enough troubles of our own. To the right General Patton, to the left the British Army, to the rear our own goddamn artillery, and besides all that it's raining. And the only good thing to say about the weather: it keeps our air corps from blowing us all to Hell because its too lousy to fly, versteh?
