acrashb
Italian fighter - the highlighted one. It's well within range of the armor etc. around Alexandria (range is five), but is doing no intercepts. Am I doing something wrong?
Big Al
its a 4 range so it should be. Unless intercepts are at 1/2 range. I dont remember.

SeaMonkey
The white highlighted outline, means in range for "escort", the orange highlight means in range for intercepts. Remember intercepts work from the "spotting" range, not the attack / escort range. What is the spotting range of the Italian fighters, is the proper mission selected, auto / intercept? acrashb
Properties as below. I had always assumed that intercept range was strike range - looks like not. Thanks SeaMonkey for the info.

Big Al
Play at .5 or 1.0 much more challenging
Catacol Highlander
Remember intercepts work from the "spotting" range, not the attack / escort range. What is the spotting range of the Italian fighters, is the proper mission selected, auto / intercept? ?? - not in my many games its not. Intercepts work on the strike range of the fighters - never a need to have them within 2 squares of the land units they are defending. However this is a good point raised - on a number of occasions in the vanilla game I have had fighters not scramble when I expected them to. I began to wonder if it was something that kicked in if you used them in a ground attack role on your previous turn, and have meant to test that theory, but have never got round to it. Are you using them to strafe targets on your own turn?
acrashb
As long as we're talking Brute Force: I am unable to reinforce Addis Ababa because a) the loop from Cairo keeps failing (no doubt because Khartoum is crowded) and the Red Sea loops do nothing. Sigh.
Big Al
I'll check that. Italy should be able to use them. The road to Kartoum is actually very long and would be very hard to supply troops marching down. Thats why I cut the map off there. There are no ports or towns untill you get down to kartoum. acrashb
Khartoum is now working, so Italy is slowly moving into Somalia. In the USSR, how do I get to the Siberian capital? Loops are for USSR only.
Big Al
I set that up on purpose. In reality there is no way the Germans could have supplied that far into Russia. Between partisans, the amount of rail change needed, and the weather it would have been a very challenging task. Also it would be too easy for the AI simply to block the arrows that go to Siberia and prevent the Axis from going there. The next version will be uploaded this week. It will have some extra new things in it too.
Big Al
For the Cairo to Sudan loop you need to control the cities closest to the loops for it to work. Those are the exit points. The actual distance from Cairo to the coastal city in Sudan is the same distance from Tunis to Cairo about if not longer. There are no ports, no water, no supplies in that long walk so its impossible to manage. You simply can't walk all that distance and take a fortified, supplied coastal city. acrashb
I set that up on purpose. OK - so I'll just block the return loop areas, take murmansk so the USSR can't build units there, and carry on elsewhere.
Big Al
With enough units you could block all the loops if I placed them there.
acrashb
Big Al, thanks for a great mod. While Nup's mod is breathtaking in scope and execution, yours is more playable. Just finished up with a victory - and may I say your victory conditions are refreshing. I did about 22:1 kill ratio on the USSR; no matter how many tanks bit the dust, more lurked around the corner. An amusing pic near but not at the end. Took about a year to clear everything - strat bombers and V-3's were instrumental in reducing enemy supply. Big Al
Play it at +0.5 ot +1 experience then the AI will be more challenging. One problem with the AI is that it is not efficient with its MPPs
