Erwin
I tried lowering the resolution to 1920 1200 60 (from 2560x1600) but when I restarted, it didn't seem to have any effect. The in-game OPTIONS resolutions work, but they are too low resolution for my taste. Any ideas? Thanx...
Schrullenhaft
When you say it "didn't seem to have any effect" are you saying that the resolution did not change to 1900x1200 or that it didn't change the performance of the game or something else ? In the 'Options' menu, 'Display' section, did you see the "1920x1200" listed as the current resolution ? When you edit the 'display size.txt' file, the resolution you list there should become the current resolution selection and available as one of the resolution selections (if you select something else).
Erwin
Thanks for the note... My 'display size.txt' file says 1920 1200 60, but I do NOT see that resolution in the OPTIONS menu. Aha, I thought. Check that accursed virtual BS store nonsense folder! And yes, there is another 'display size.txt' file there saying 0 0 0. Re-edited to 1920 1200 60, saved and reloaded the game. happily... But, no luck, I still do NOT see that resolution in the OPTIONS menu. Rechecked the Admin folder version of 'display size.txt', and it had REVERTED to 0 0 0. So, it seems like restarting the game somehow resets to default 0 0 0.
Schrullenhaft
Were you launching your text editor (NotePad, etc.) by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator" ? I would assume that that would be necessary for the file in the '\Program Files' directory. I'm not sure if it would be necessary for the 'VirtualStore' directory copy of 'display size.txt'. Perhaps change the '\Program Files' version of 'display size.txt' and then make sure to launch CMSF by also right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator" and see if the change is present in the Display options.
Erwin
I got it to work properly, but unfortunately that part of my message seemed to not get saved here. Apparently, one can't edit the file while the game is running and then exit and restart the game wi the new resolution - it reverts. For some reason, you have to exit the game, then edit, then restart. (Apologies if that was obvious to you.)
