LongLeftFlank
o Changing door/window layouts on the sides of buildings is easier in the editor 3D preview. When control-clicking buildings, for convenience, door configurations are skipped for upper levels without balconies, except when your camera view is inside the building. This makes it easier to set up "interior" walls between immediately adjacent buildings. I do hope it's still possible to build the kinds of no-balcony office blocks shown in the below pic. Up to now, when you're inside a building and click or CTRL+click a wall, it simply deletes that wall. This was a very convenient way of "clearing" the existing window configs without having to cycle through all the remaining options (you could cycle instead by having your camera slightly "outside" the building looking in).
SD Smack
LLF Yes you still can make the buildings without walls, but unfortunately the ability to clear a wall while inside the building is no longer available. You now have to cycle through to get the side you want. steve-o
LongLeftFlank
Thanks for the clarification. The change is too bad, since when I did interior walls in most cases I wanted a door with no windows (just 3 ctrl+clicks, 1 to delete the wall, a second to give a solid wall and a third for a solid wall with a door only).
birdstrike
Agree. I'm missing this feature, too. It would be nice if BF could reconsider it's decision to leave it out.
LongLeftFlank
Yes, although I'm not holding my breath on them changing back. For me, it means that maps will be vastly more time-consuming to create in v1.30 world -- up to ~15 clicks to create each windowless wall instead of just 2. I don't want all my friggin buildings to have windows on all 4 sides unless I decide to design CMSF Levittown: Suburban MOUT. Quite seriously, I will have to consider carefully before buying NATO or patching to 1.30.
Jonny(FGM)
Quite seriously, I will have to consider carefully before buying NATO or patching to 1.30. Couldn't you have 2 installs of CMSF, one 1.21 for map creation and one 1.30 for playing or would there be a compatability error? A pain I know but there are some nice features in 1.30 and its less of a pain than all of those extra clicks
SD Smack
Yes this is a feature i have used a lot in some of the maps ive made. Lots of buildings that are grain storage or greenhouses so only a door and no windows. But none the less it will mean i'll have to spend a bit more time changing the buildings. Oh well.
