UdiHrant
I'm commited to getting into this game but still get lost and frustrated when trying to zoom close to a unit to see how it is positioned. Right now I use left click/drag screen right click/rotate screen and mouse wheel/zoom. I realized that part of my frustration is simply that I'm so used to double clicking on a unit in Total War which automatically puts you conveniently above and behind and close to - the clicked on unit. I can't find and so I assume there is no suck camera function in CMSF...
Erik Springelkamp
Click on the unit, hit the tab key and the 2 key. You are then just behind the unit one level above the ground, which is usually a good starting point to discover his environment.
stoex
Also, use WASD to move the camera bit by bit, and Q & E to rotate slowly. One gets used to the camera controls, I guess it takes a little longer when you are used to a different control scheme.

Wodin
noticed you want the icons off....well good luck because you need them...go get the military style icon mod...really helps with identifying your units...you will have great difficulties playing the game at first without the icons...

Haha, the last time I tried to play a Total War game I tried using the CM:SF camera controls. Just goes to show what happens when you play a game too much!
