Stalins Organ
Apparently the US army has discovered that buttons are better than velcro - Buttons are silent, easy to replace in the field, work just fine in the mud, do not clog up with dirt and do not fray and disintegrate with repeated laundering cue cliches: plus ça change back to the future Waiter there's a fly in my pants......
Michael Emrys
I wondered how long it would take them to figure this out. Now we know. I think the original reason that zippers were resisted was the noise factor. They can also jam at awkward times...and any time a zipper jams is automatically awkward. Velcro is even noisier. Other than that, it's okay for a limited time, but it doesn't hold up well. Buttons are best for battlefield conditions, snaps and zippers for everything else. Affentitten
Now we've just got to wait for the defence supplier to be charging $98.05 for each button.
JonS
Meanwhile, NZ is still going full steam ahead for velcro *sigh*

mike_the_wino
Stalin, you need a warning tag on that link. Sumfink like, 'Beware, Kettlerian nuttiness lies ahead'. I can see why google blocked it. Crazy people don't need a meeting place. Scatter them to the wind to wither and die.
Stalins Organ
Sorry - yeah...on reflection I can see that a censor's note might have been useful, but to be fair I don't putting Kettler's moniker on it would ahve been fair to Kettler! It's important we remain aware of the lunacy that is out there!
