TDA Posted January 29, 2001 Share Posted January 29, 2001 I did it. Didn't notice any difference.My Voodoo3 2000 card makes green dots all over the screen. Thought DirectX 8 would help. Schrullenhaft Posted January 30, 2001 Share Posted January 30, 2001 There isn't a whole lot of difference between DirectX 8.0 and the previous 7.x series in regards to CM. However, some of the latest video drivers available are geared towards DirectX 8.0 and its features. You may want to check with your video card/chip manufacturer and see what the latest version of the their drivers supports in regards to DirectX. Occasionally it would be recommended to upgrade to DirectX 8.0 with some of the drivers out there. If you're not having any problems right now and you don't intend on upgrading your video drivers, then I would skip on installing DirectX 8.0 for now. You won't see any speed improvements to my knowledge and the new features of DirectX 8.0 don't have much bearing on CM.
