Peter Panzer
...i'll keep it short... i attempted to attach 3 text files (MS word 97, saved with the appropriate ".txt" extension) to a scenario i created, but they appeared on the briefing screen as a jumbled mess of odd symbols with my text interspersed throughout... how can i correct this?

Peter Panzer
...tried "times new roman," font "12," no difference... certainly it should not be this much of a hassle to simply add a few lines of text! what gives?
rune
Did you save the article in the native format and n ot as a .txt? Save it as a .txt file and try it. Rune
Schrullenhaft
Just to further clarify what rune said. Make sure that you're saving in a "DOS" or "ASCII Text" format and not in a "Word" format. The extension will mean nothing (other than to launch the associated program when the data file is double-clicked) if the data format is still the native Word format (which has all sorts of formatting/document data).
JMcGuire
Better yet, just use Notepad...
Peter Panzer
...well fellas, a sincere thankyou to all of you... ...as shrullenhaft noted, simply popping an extension on the end of the title doesn't mean squat - after his explanation, the proper way to go about this matter became much clearer. ***shrullenhaft: i notice your name appearing on a great many of the posts appearing on this tech board, each seems wonderfully concise and informed. you are a genuine asset to this community! ...again, thanks to all who took the time...
