Von Toojax
I installed this truely brilliant game 2 weeks ago. However, the last couple of days my system crashes after a few minutes of game play (loading a battle/operation). What happens is that the monitor displays a checkerboard pattern (alternating horizontal and vertical lines) or just goes white or sometimes black. My PC is then unresponsive to keyboard commands (alt/backspace even Ctrl/Alt/Del) I have to reboot the system with the main switch. Any ideas as what the problem may be. I have reinstalled the game, graphics/sound drivers etc to no avail. I have also installed all the pateches for the game now at 1.03 ver My PC specs below Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Service Pack 2 Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD System Model: MS-6501 BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: AMD Athlon MP, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~1.5GHz Memory: 1024MB RAM Page File: 210MB used, 2716MB available Windows Dir: C:\WINNT DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 (4.09.0000.0900) DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.0000.0900 32bit Unicode Card name: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 Manufacturer: NVIDIA Chip type: GeForce4 Ti 4200 DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0253&SUBSYS_160310B0&REV_A2 Display Memory: 128.0 MB Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (16 bit) (60Hz) Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200 Driver Name: nv4_disp.dll Thanks in advance

Try stopping all of them. Gruß Joachim
Schrullenhaft
Sounds like some sort of overheating problem with your videocard. The 'checkerboard pattern' suggests that your video memory may be overheating. You may want to check that your videocard has adequate ventilation and that the GPU fan is spinning. The simplest thing to do would be to take off your computer case cover and see if that effects how long you can run CMBB for.
Von Toojax
Thanks guys, to be honest I had tried switching off all background apps initially, but to no avail I took the sides off and I was able to complete a battle (Royal opponent) with it crashing 3 times. Looks like it was over heating of the graphics card. It is rather warm here in dear old blighty Thanks again for taking the time to respond
