TheVulture
A British sniper who has performed buddy aid had decided to pick up a weapon and use it in preference to his sniper rifle. There are no enemies visible with 400m , but he insists on not using his sniper rifle even when there are distant targets available. Save available, in case it is helpful. (In a similar vein, I also had an HQ squad buddy-aid a javelin team, and the mortar guy ended up with the javelin. When area firing a target, he fired the javelin in preference to his 51mm mortar. I know it isn't easy to decide who in the squad does buddy aid, depending on circumstances, but is there any way of passing the salvaged weapons around nearby squad members to keep a range of weaponry available?)
akd
Are you sure he didn't run out of ammo for the sniper rifle (L115 I assume). I think the snipers may actually have a backup L85, so salvaging one would not have been necessary.
Field Marshal Blücher
akd might be right. Looks like he's out of medium-caliber ammo.
akd
Ammo for the L115 (.338 Lapua Magnum) is not shown in the ammo columns.
TheVulture
It's certainly possible that he's out of ammo - he's racked up a lot of kills of enemy ATGM crews from that position, and this is 50 minutes in to a battle now.
flamingknives
Yes, British snipers carry L85A2s as a backup weapon.
