pamak1970
Hello everybody. I have one question regarding how probability of hit works regarding AFVs. Assume you are stationed in a hull down position, against computer controll units. Is the probability of hit linked to the amount of time you are in the same position (increase over time)? In other words Do you reduce the probability of hit by enemy computer controlled units if you change locations frequently and pop up in different hull down positions nearby? I am curious about both CMx2 and CMx1 Thank you P.S I am talking about the probability of hit of a SINGLE shot fot a target popping up in a new location compared to the probability of hit of a single shot aiming Afvs which have already been fired in the past at a certain location
Redwolf
For CMx1: 1) a defensive shooter (declared defender in the scenario) can use TRPs as long as it didn't move since scenario start 2) repeatedly shooting at a unit in the same location yields better hit probability on followup shots. Advantage is lost when the target moves IIRC 15 meters (fuzzy on actual number), even if it's the same vehicle and was always in sight shooter moves shooter switches to other target and then back shooter loses LOS even for a moment and never moved the gun, neither did the target move The advantage in all these cases, if granted, is a probability multiplication by 3 (1 - (1 - baseprob) ^3), that means the probability of the next one shot hitting is the same as shooting three times without benefit. There a variety of other engine issues that make it hard to get the proper benefit from standing shooters, in addition to the above.
Battlefront.com
Breaking contact basically resets the hit probability because repeated shots at the same target without significant breaks is how probability is increased. This is why everybody has invested so much into weapons technologies which can theoretically hit with one shot. Two shots, even, isn't bad if the rate of fire of the weapon is fairly quick and the ammo supply adequate. Steve
