Shockwave
Ok here goes. On CM Beyond Overlord I get to the main screen and an error box comes up. I can't read it but im guessing it says I need the cd inserted in the CD/ROM drive. The CD is there but it makes no effort to read it. CM barbarossa to Berlin I get to the main menu and an error message comes up saying I need the CD/ROM inserted in the drive and that it wont work unless the full version is installed. It makes no effort to read the CD/ROM drive at all. I am using Windows XP (home edition) and I am unsure of my video card, I think its a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 200. Any help would be appreciated. Harv
Make sure you are not running the games in compatability mode. If they are, the CD checks will fail on both games. To check, just right click on your desktop shortcuts to the each game, select Properties and then select the Compatabiliy tab. Make sure nothing on that page is selected or checked. posted by Madmatt via proxy (on Harvs laptop)
Shockwave
I went and checked the FAQ for problems before posting here and knew about that causing the problem. None of them are checked and the problem is still happening. Chuck

Schrullenhaft
Did this installation work before and just stop working ? Have you upgraded something like your OS or is this an installation on a computer that never had CM ? Are you patching with the correct patches - retail versions are CDV releases and can't use the BFC/Internet patches.
Shockwave
Never had it on my comp before, same operating system its always had. This is the first time I have installed this game on my comp....unless the demo counts. Im not even sure if I installed the demo on this comp or not... Schrullenhaft
What version of the NVidia drivers do you have installed ? Where did you purchase these copies of CM, from a retail outlet or from BFC over the Internet ? If you purchased the game from a retail outlet you have the CDV version, which uses the SafeDisc copy protection scheme. This software occasionally has problems with certain setups (drives, etc.) and it usually results in errors reading the CD (because of the method that the data was originally recorded to the CD). I'm not sure if this is the problem you're seeing however. Originally when you launch CM you get the resolution selection boxes (I assume you're already familiar with that). If you select a refresh rate that is too high for your monitor (it can be offered - CM just goes through the resolutions and refresh rates that your video driver offers - which may not always work with your monitor) it may appear 'shredded' - which is a possible way that your monitor handles certain refresh rates that are beyond its capability.
