Soldiers ma to shoot

Recommended Posts

I read in the new patch readme file that soldiers will not move out of good cover to poor cover just to shoot at enemies. I never noticed any soldiers moving at all to shoot at enemies except if the soldiers were in buildings. How does this work?

Also, what is the whole concept of "hull down"?

'Hull down' means that the body of the vehicle is behind hard cover (usually terrain) and that only the weapon turret is above, thus minimizing its profile, but retaining its ability to employ all its weapons.

This is obviously the best way to use any kind of vehicles to minimize the risk of them getting shot up, and it should be used as much as possible. Even a little PG-7V rocket from a RPG-7 can bust the track on your M1A1 Abrams and thus score an 'immobilization kill'. Thus don't think you don't have to stay hull down just because the enemy doesn't have tanks or ATGM missiles.

Hull down is when the AFVs hull (body) is in cover behind a berm/obstacle and only the turret is showing, wich gives the result that the AFV is betther protected but can still engage targets with its main gun.

Look at http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/Merkava-Pics/MerkavaMk3-firing-lahat120.jpg to get an idea of what I mean, as you see the hull is covered while the turret is still able to engage.

next step is "turret down" (I think its called that in english atleast) wich is the whole AFV in cover just below the berm, if the AFV have hunter/killer kapacity often the TCs PERI is sticking up so the TC can see over the berm. This gives the advantage that the tank is in full cover and only the small PERI is visable wich makes it hard to detect.

In addition to hull down you can mask your vehicle by avoiding "Skylining". Get hull down with a tree or a clump of buildings behind you and it breaks up the outline of your upper hull.

This works better with turret down obviously and Anti-Skyline techniques are not always possible but they make a difference. You want the skyline breaker then you then the enemy in a straight line if possible. So if Johnny Syrian looks in your direction all he see's is a small wood in the distance. While your periscope or commander out of the turret is harder to spot.

When soldiers are positioned in an action spot behind a ridgeline or some trees, the AT specialist will sometimes crawl forward to nail a target. The update is designed to prevent them crawling forward to nail a target in plain view of enemies ie less suicide missions.

Thanks for the info yall.

So If i use the target line and target something and it says "Partial hull down" does that mean that at the point im targeting, if a guy was there, he would only see my turret and have a hard time shooting at the body of the tank?
