Sivodsi
Picked up off a broadcast from the recent Sth Ossetia conflict, its prob some kind of BMP-3 variant with no turret, but would like to find out more info about it. This is the context from which I plucked the screenshot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k2A-2q-Q2k
MikeyD
MTLB, I'd say. Standard Russian workhorse. troops transport, artillery prime mover, etc. etc. etc. Sorta the Russian equivalent to the M113.

Combatintman
Yep - MTLB. Should be in CMSF - the Syrians have them and they're fairly common. Would love to see it come out in the next module along with the BTR-50 and a truck (GAZ-66 or URAL-375).
Sivodsi
Thanks! Shows how cmsf limits your view of Russian AFVs. I like the version the AT version MT-LBM (izdeliye 6MA3) - with 4 ATGM "Kornet" - be quite deadly I should imagine, and a cut above the current ATGM vehicles in CMSF. As regards their non-appearance in CMSF, the wiki for the MT-LB doesn't list Syria as user. Anybody got any evidence that contradicts this?
Combatintman
Sivodsi, I reckon these are either MTLB or BTR-50 on Google Earth: Latitude - 33.4471° Longitude - 36.0287° If you go here you'll see 4 x D-30 in revetments Latitude 33.4464° Longitude 36.0358° I should get a life really ...
The_Red_Rage
MTLB with ZSU AA mount would be most welcome addition, especially with an ability to herass helicopters (similar to CMx1 flak guns). Those things are very common everywhere and are very effective in infantry support role. http://pvo.guns.ru/zu23/zu23_chechnya.htm
Combatintman
But why have one of those when you can have a ZSU-23/4?
The_Red_Rage
Why not have both MTLB can carry 11 troops to give it some distinction. Red side vihicle list could definately use some love. Some of the most common and mass produced vihicles are missing: BTR-80 ZSU AA guns of various configurations (including stationary) MTLB BMD-2 for Syrian paras Who cares if Syria doesn't operate them - they don't have BMP-3 or T-90 either.
Combatintman
MTLB + 11 - have you been in one. The thing's tiny - even I was surprised when I first saw one close up and compared it against the actual numbers. ZSU stationary - you mean ZU - the 's' = self propelled. So ZSU 23/4 = 4 x 23mm on an SP chassis, ZSU 57/2 = 2 x 57mm guns on a self propelled chassis. ZU-23 or ZU-23/2 = 2 x 23mm cannons on a towed chassis.
