Tartari
Glad you are enjoying my ger and US sound mod! MajorProblem, thank you for the tip but I prefer when possible to create new and true sounds. I've begun to change the vehicle's engines, guns and artillery sounds too (the mortar sound is now realistic in my opinion). I'd prefer to upload the all pack when finished (small arms, planes, artillery, guns, etc) but maybe not if it'll take too much time.
MajorProblem
Yes i must admit you really have found some authentic sounds it really adds to the atmosphere. Another way to obtain sounds is to take them from films and edit them. Also is it me or can you not hear the sounds of the bullets hitting the ground in the game. I know they are in the folder but they never seem loud enough. Be great to hear them correctly. Need a better plane gun sound too.Anyway keep up the good work. Great being able to mod sounds just wish this game had urban battles and more different environments to fight in and AI improvements. Also thought there were on board mortars, artillery originally and smoke be great. See such potential to be the best ww2 strategy game about. Where one game excels another falls it seems. I really enjoyed the CM series for many reasons but not visually. How long before release of your mod then?
Tartari
Yes,I agree for the bullet hits, it's like the other sounds in the game, too low! I will turn it up and add something more immersive like the bullet/round flight sound (if possible). I will upload it very soon for testing together with the artillery sound mod! Other than that, the plane gun sound is no problem to improve. I'd like to add totally new sounds in the game, like reloading sound of guns and small arms, voices, diving sound of planes, but I don't know for now how to script sounds... MajorProblem
I have excellent authentic stuka diving sound waves from call of duty but like you have not a clue how to script them. I suppose you could combine the plane gun shooting and the dive into one wave as a idea in a sound editor it might work. Also call of duty has loads of bullet hit sounds. With the low level sounds i used SoundForge to turn the waves up and place them back into the folder. I can hear my tank turret turn now.

Tartari
Speaking of sound mods -- I've downloaded Tartari's mod, but I have no idea how to install it, and there are no installation instructions in either of the zips. (I though there was a thread about Tartari's sound mod, but I can't find it.) Any advice? Here I am! My mod (Us and german small arms sound mod) was just a draft, I've now found better sounds for them and understand better how to synchronize them with the rof. If you want to use them, just put the "presets" and "samples" folders in your main ToW directory, but as Bruce90 advised you, it is simpler to use a mod enabler like the free Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler Regarding my "big" sound mod, I've so far changed all the small arms sounds, guns, explosions, impacts, planes, artillery. I'm now working on the engine's sounds, at least on some of them... By the way, I managed to give flight sounds to bullets and gun rounds.
SG1
Hi Tartatari, Only snag is the link gets to HTTP 404 (of the fatal death). Other links to similar addresses are screwed up too. Seems there is some need for googling.
SG1
Well, this one should do. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/Generic-Mod-Enabler.shtml
Tartari
Thank you SG1, I don't understand why it does'nt work any more? This one should work, too: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/products-jsgme.html
SG1
Hi Tartari, No problem with your last link indeed. But I still get a 404 error using the one you posted yesterday morning.
SG1
By the way, Tartari, I have both your sound mod files. Is one including the other one or are they two different mods to be used together ? Reason I ask is that when I wanted to activate the two of them through JSGME I got a warning message that some already modded files would be overwritten. Tartari
SG1, they are two different mods (even if only the automatic arms sounds are really different). One has burst recorded sound for mgs and smgs, it sounds more realistic because every bullet sound is different like it is in real and has a sound tail and reverberation. The snag is that the sounds are not always synchronised with the animations and effects. The other one has only one bullet sound recorded for them, that is repeated by the game engine with the right rof (if well done) and thus synchronised exactly with the anims and effects. The drawback is that it sounds somewhat not realistic, too clean, and less immersive eventually.

Knokke
I have a question for the sound specialists here: It seems that there are preset files for sounds of trains and ships, but I don't remember having seen any train or boats moving in game and/or making any sound Any idea what theses sounds are? I remember some very early WIP screens with the russian tral from Il-2. It seems ships and moving trains was some of many canceled things in ToW and only a few death files left
Knokke
that's too bad... I would really have liked to see playable boats in the game, to make river crossing actions with rubber dinghies or assault boats...
MG TOW
Tatari I just tried your sound mod. I have a problem with the MG 42 tho, I get alot of annoyinng bleeps pops and buzzing before and after it fires. This may be due to my crappy integrated mobo sound. I think it is the long burst that does it. Any way of salvaging that sample?
Tartari
Gundolf, thanks for using my mod, it works fine for me and for my friends, like in my vid http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=0TKD3tY4prY Is it really my mod? If it is, you should see in your tow directory, 2 folders, "presets" and "samples".
Bosyk
Hello, I watched the videos on youtube about this SoundMod for ToW but I didn't found a place where it can be downloaded. Does anyone know a possibility to get it? Is this mod still around there in the internet? Thanks for your answers.
Tartari
ok, I'll upload it here at the bF repositary. I'm working currently on a ToW2 one but maybe I'll update this one with more sounds and better because I've learned since then.
