This brings something to mind: if the enemy AI can properly select ammo for the job (e.g. shreck to take on a tank), why can't the AI do this for the player as well? Your soldiers should be smart enough to switch over to the bazooka rather than blazing away at a Panther with a Thompson. Seems like this should be an easy fix in the patch.
