Vern_S
Just thought it would be interesting to see what movies that are good to watch in preparation for the release of ToW. Here is what I've been watching as of late.... Patton, A Bridge Too Far, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers mini series, Enemy at the gates. Vern_S
Nice List mkde and Red.. Not sure how Das Boot fit's in with ToW but it is a classic war film and one of my favorites.. Dirty Dozen is also one of the best.

franz
check out the first 20 minutes of "Hannibal Rising" for some cool Waffen SS and Lithuanian SS irregular combat action against Soviets and and T34. Also some Stukas thrown in for good measure.

Apache
For historical accuracy and ham it has to be Battle of the Bulge.

sage2
I really, really like the German movie 'The Bridge'. It's about some conscripts defending against an armored attack at the end of the war. The last battle scene from SPR 'borrowed' some aspectss.
Vergeltung
A Bridge Too Far is always worth a look. SO many famous actors in one movie. It was truly an epic film for its time. AND they made a genuine effort ot make the German AFVs look historical, instead of just slapping some crosses on some modern armor.
gibsonm
Not sure about that. The Leopards and M109’s were pretty obvious (but better that the “Shermans“ M41s and “Tigers“ M47s in Battle of the Bulge). At least in SPR the “Tiger” looked a lot better (even if it has T-34 running gear). “Theirs is the Glory” is far better. Black and white (filmed in 1946) but all soldiers (no actors) and all original kit.
AnotherBrit
Theirs is the Glory was filmed at Arnhem using two of the streets and other areas of the town. Its worth a look. Its where Bridge too Far came from.
gibsonm
Yes I know I’ve got it on DVD - hence my comment above about it being better than “A Bridge Too Far”
Fenris
Isn't there a couple of Panthers in Theirs in the Glory too? Cross of Iron is a gooden for Eastern front. Nods to Stalingrad, A bridge to far and most the rest mentioned above.
gibsonm
Yes, From memory some Panthers engaging some 6Pdr's at suicidal range (<50m) along a street, a Tiger I and a Pz III attacking through some scrub and a scene with a damaged/destroyed Tiger II in the background. Dryfear
You forgot Flags of our Fathers. Pacific theater, yes, but it's still WW2. Anything WW2 is good to fill the time until a highly anticipated WW2 game.
