Reichenberg
1) How can I influence the position of a ME in CMC on its 1kmx1km tile?? E.g. I have only short range anti tank weapons in a ME on a defensive task in CMC and I am expecting a tank attack. Knowing where the edge of a CM:BB map is, I would preferably place them as far to the attacker as possible on the CMC tile (let's say as far east as possible on the CM:BB map if I expect the attack of enemy tanks from the east). Or for long range anti tank weapons, I would try to do the opposite. My anti tank force could be seen from further away, but could only be attacked from the same tile 2) Would it be considered gamey, using the knowledge of the CM:BB grid while playing CMC?? 3) Or how does CMC place my short range anti tank force to prevent this gamey tactic?? (by using the full depth of the 1km tile??) I think it is a pretty big issue, because it would make your force on the edge of the map attackable only when the opponent is on top of them..... or I am missing something substantial in the gameplay  Uwe

I doubt that this is how unit placement will work in CMC. Since I think you move your units from map sector to map sector (1km/1km) the closest you could get to an enemy unit would be within a 1km/1km sector. That would still leave enough room to seperate the opposing forces. [ October 14, 2005, 12:12 PM: Message edited by: ParaBellum ]
Renaud
A related question... If I am moving my german towed PAK40 battery ME down a road in travel formation and I encounter a russian mechanized battlegroup ME heading the other way, the towed Pak40 ME is SOL, right? I imagine the resulting meeting engagement will have my pak40's embarked and trucks lined up on the road. Is something of the sort modeled, or does the pak40 battery suffer relatively no disadvantage in such an encounter?
Reichenberg
Maybe CMC always uses the full depth of a 1km tile.... or maybe it takes landscape issues into account (rivers, tree lines, towns, hills). Hopefully CMC will have a proper routine to determine the set-up zones in CM:BB.... Uwe

Ike
That's why one of the Ten Commandments is "Thou shalt not advance towed artillery without line unit escorts", and another is, "Thou shalt not advance without flank and advance screening elements ahead of thee."
