c3k
Gents, Playing 1.07. When I left-click to place a movement order in WEGO, the front-most row of trees (cut off by the bottom of the screen) flash. Has anyone else seen this? It seems to be minor, but it is annoying and possibly indicates other issues. Regards, Ken
c3k
More on this graphic oddity: The bottom of the screen's terrain disappears at certain angles and distances. Savegame available (Al Amarah 008c 005 graphic glitch). It is not limited to trees. The entire terrain "floor" can disappear at times. Always occurs near the interface bar at the bottom of the screen. This has been noted by others. Regards, Ken
gibsonm
Ken, I can't recall exactly, but I believe this is covered in the Tech Support area. Apparently, IIRC, some video cards crop or trim the bottom part of the display if they are being overworked. Here: Terrain disappears when scrolling forwards Hopefully you remember it as you contributed to the discussion. c3k
I can't even remember what I had for breakfast! I'm using an 8800gtx (768 Meg Graphics Memory). I'd hope it's not running out. The terrain which disappears is the scenario terrain. The underlayment stays. It is repeatable. Motion is not needed. The camera position is the variable. Certain heights and angles clip the terrain. The terrain has to have an incline to it. The odd part is that the clipping occurs when further away. I'd expect a zoom-in to cause clipping. crr
Yes this is identical to what I get with same graphics card except i play real-time. Also get constant redrawing and other graphical oddities. Have stopped playing now due to graphical instability.
gibsonm
Edited because it didn’t help. But I can say I’ve never experienced it, even on huge maps (e.g. “Armour Attacks“) I presume if you have tweaked with the graphics card to improve performance that you have tried turning these “tweaks” off?
c3k
Running everything at stock settings, whql approved drivers. CMSF menu? With my graphics card I've chosen high or the equivalent settings. Savegame available. At some point, I may download Fraps so I can take a screen shot. Regards, Ken
gibsonm
What happens if you drop down to “Improved” or “Balanced”?
c3k
Gents, Some pictures of what occurs: Another view: Again, I'm using an 8800gtx card operating under vista64. (169.25 drivers.) Thanks, Ken
gibsonm
Ken, Yes, but you didn’t answer the question. “What happens if you drop down to “Improved” or “Balanced”?“ Have you tried???????
c3k
Yes, I just tried. My new found screenshot skills are failing me. (Photobucket is not showing my latest uploads.) Suffice it to say, using either "Improved" of "Balanced" does not remedy the clipping. Regards, Ken
gibsonm
Ken, Well I’m not sure about your particular situation. Certainly I’ve not had that issue with my 8800GX, which is a less capable card, on big maps, but then my install has no mods (so that testing isn’t confused by what might be mod issues) and I run XP Pro. Also I’m not really a Windoze tech guy so I’d be just guessing if Vista was an issue. You may want to: 1. Post this to the Tech Support area where people with better skills in this area frequent. 2. Wait a few days and see if things change for “some reason”.
gibsonm
Now that the “few days” have passed, does 1.08 help?
Battlefront.com
c3k, Hmmm.... never seen that before. Have you tried a smaller screen resolution? Looks like you have it cranked up. That might have something to do with it, though I have no idea why. Have I mentioned I don't like video cards or their drivers? Other Means
I've seen it before and raised a bug rep, which was addressed for 1.08. I have the same card as c3k. c3k - is it fixed for you?
c3k
Negative, not fixed in v1.08. Edited to add: no mods, no skins. Everything is default files. This is specific to one or two camera elevations coupled with sloping terrain. Resolution: 1920x1200 evga 8800gtx (standard clocks)/nvidia 169.25 drivers (soon to try 174.74 (?)) Other Means
Sorry Ken, no idea. When I get home I'll post all my settings. I'm running XP though so I don't know if our experiences are comparable.
c3k
Other Means, Well, if you're running XP and I'm running Vista, perhaps we can eliminate the OS as a cause for this glitch. (I assume you still have it.) Post what you've got... Thanks, Ken
Other Means
No, I don't still get it is my point. I'll post all my settings when I get home.
c3k
Ahh, so you HAD it, and then it stopped occurring?
