Guest Mike
Kuwait has held a little longer than expected - the Axis still has 2 Luftflottes and 2 German armies in Iraq which will soak up some of those extra MPP's geting back to "the action The Italians disappeared from the front lines a while back, presumably sent off to do something useful..... In the mean time we're preparing a little something in the USSR as a greeting to our fraternal German neighbours, and hte RAF starts opinprick raids agaisnt the U-boat pens at Brest...... jon_j_rambo
German inventors are trying to hurry their latest weapons to the troops. Iraq is completely Nazi land, let the oil flow. Submarines raid Canadian shipping.
Guest Mike
German inventors are probably decades behind the times!
jon_j_rambo
July 1941 --- Russian readiness only 52%, the Germans will continue to build & research.
Guest Mike
Axis moves the Roumanian af to Sicily to join the Regia Aeronautica there, Italian sub attackks wounded battleship at Gibralter, and Italian surface units attack Malta, suffering hits for no visible effect on the garrison. Looks like Malta's days are numbered! U-boats finally locate both hte Canadian AND the US convoy routes, RAF bombs Brest. USA and USSR invest in research and both get Inductrial Tech advances - must be something in the water?!
Guest Mike
The Italian fleet and Axis airforces cluster around Malta like flies to sticky paper - the Island takes lots of hits, no damage to the corps tho', but it doesn't do much damage in return either. German a/c are at level 2 or maybe 3.....probably 2 'cos at least 1 of them is still at 1. HMS Malaya is sunk at Gibralter and Italian Subs and German Cruisers take up station either side of the straights. Bismark is at Brest. It's the end of July ......USSR moves to 60%, gets advanced aircaft, more industrial tech...........will there be any time to invade the USSR before the bad weather comes?? Guest Mike
USSR to 67%, gets another adv a/c. Malta gets hammered but reinforced 'cos the port is at 5. Yugoslavia decides that if all the other Balkan states are in the Axis camp it must be allied and has a coup......and we note that a unit or 2 of Germans move away from the Russian front ....I wonder what for?? It's August 41 - if Barbarossa doesn't happen soon the Siberians are going to be here to greet it......
jon_j_rambo
Malta has been dissolved, enemy unit elimated. Nothing can withstand the attacks it took. Italian Navy softens up the position again, then in comes the experienced LF. Russia is upto 71%, USA 52%.
jon_j_rambo
Russian border build-up, Barby starts very, very soon.
Guest Mike
Sooner than you think - Russia starts the turn at 84% and ends the turn preparing for war! IT & PT are close to maxed, airforce, tanks, infantry tech are all well advanced.....and it is mid September 1941 already.......this ain't gonna be any typical Barbarossa! Rumour has it the Japanese are preparing to attack the Americans in a few months too...... A Roumanian corps amphibs to take Malta.
jon_j_rambo
Germans attack September 1941 --- -Army East of Riga destroyed, another Army should be put out of supply controlling Riga. -Corp near Odessya killed. -Yugoslavia converted -Iran coverted by the paratroops. -Couple panzers attack Russia from Norther Iran. Looks like he has an air unit, fortress and some friends.
Guest Mike
Yeah I figured you'd be coming through Iran - it's way too obvious a target once you've gotten Iraq!
jon_j_rambo
Gotta get to Russia somehow. Plus, the geography is more interesting.
Guest Mike
And the mud arrives right on cue. Axis have launched 3 attacks - 2-3 corps + 1-2 armies each north and south, and 2 tank, 2 armies & 1 corps from Iran - with the PAratroopers in Teheran too of course - can't forget them!! John has spent his money getting to inf & AT 2, Mech 2 and ships guns 2 - his 2 tanks in the Caucassus are still at tanks 0 tho, and a big nasty KV-1 has just op moved next to them!!
Guest Mike
The mud didn't last, and Riga falls. Odessa hangs on by the skin of its teeth - and another army operates in. The Axis southern front is seriously weakened - 3 German corps & 1 army all at half strength or less. However the airforces hadn't made an appearance yet, and the allied troops that took Yugoslavia will be available soon too. A single German corp crosses the border in the Pripet Marshes. No counter attacks from the Russians - German morale is mostly over 120% - I don't like those odds! 2 corps op move to the caucassus to cover gaps. jon_j_rambo
German forces carefully cross the river in Southern Russia from Iran. We blast away a Russian corp in a newly built fortress. At least one LF is in the area for support. Yes, Riga was taken, Odessya is another story, for now. German Navy sniffs out New York City.
Guest Mike
German morale is now down to much more reasonable levels! An 11 pt level 0 panzer blasts its way through Georgia with no losses, but elsewhere the Whermacht forces are operating at severely reduced strengths. however the various axis airforces are now in action along the front so will be having some effect. I'm hoping the reduced unit strength and loss of their morale bonus will slow them down a bit. The Kriegsmarine seems to be all on the Nth American Atlantic seaboard so the Canadian bombers have had a couple of cracks at U-boats, and the Baltic fleet sorties to bombard Riga and Tallin. Reinforcements and replacements flow southwards. [ May 24, 2006, 04:41 PM: Message edited by: Stalin's Organist ]
Guest Mike
John keeps attacking in Russia - take Minsk & Odessa, hammers a corps in the south, and invades Tunisia - no doubt hoping the Russian peasants will be terified by the Germans capturing the Bey!! The US Navy sails out into the Atlantic for training exercises. Russian winter arrives.
Guest Mike
German allies invade Greece from the Adriatic coast while the Italian navy punds the city - they fail to take it but there's not much left - I reinforce on the off chance the Axis low supply state screws up their attacks. Greek forces invade Serbia in return - HAH - TAKE THAT! In Russia the Whermacht advances on Kiever from north (Minsk) and south but gets a bit of a bloody nose. Russian reinfocements appear next to the city. Luftwaffe and allied airforces bomb the Maxim Gorky, which is then sent to the bottom by one of the German battleships with it's level 2 gunnery radar. In the Caucassus the German infantry pulls back a bit to behind the rivers and mountains - I suspect supply is a problem there - the Panzers are nowhere to be seen and expected elsewhere in Europe shortly! The Kriegsmarine is no longer taking cruises along the US Atlantic coast - but it's January 1942, and those bloody Japs haven't attacked Pearl Harbour yet!! US is at 75% IIRC. jon_j_rambo
-Nothing but mud in Southern Russia (Georgia/Armenia) so I pull troops back into Iran behind the river. -German Navy isn't going to pop the U.S. Navy, they have dissappeared, kind of like the movie "Final Countdown". We'll pull back from his sight too, where did he go? -Ground game in the East going slow. Russians aren't many, but I'm having trouble with the mud, late Barby. -Greece is invaded, why not? Guest Mike
Yes I got it twice thanks - It's been beddy-byes time here for the last 10 hrs! Limited Russian counter attacks around Kiev and Smolensk hammer the german spearheads. Reinforcements arrive at both places. No sign of the Panzers in the Caucasus - german infantry continues to retire small distances - trying to get me out of the hills perhaps??!! The VVS (Soviet airforce) attempt to dispute air superiority among the mountains with little success yet - Soviet a/c appear technically superior to german ones at this stage, but pilot experience is still low. The garrison of Athens is destroyed, but hte city not yet occupied by the allied axi armies.
Guest Mike
Not much activity from the Germans - a corps outside Smolensk is ganged up on by 3 or 4 German units and destroyed, but counterattacks destroy one of hte Germans - the first unit eliminated by hte Russians. They continue to withdraw in the Caucassus - garrisoning the Iraqi oil wells with a German army. One army is left behind but survives the counterattacks albeit in much weakened condition. Russian KV's and infantry reinforcements appear at Kiev. The Red fleet bombars Odessa and Riga, and hte first Russian partisans appear near Leningrad. Finland joins the war, USA joins the war......it's all in now! Oh yeah - and Athens is occupied.........
