Londoner
I've just be forced to change my email address to a hotmail account, does anyone know how to download PBEM files from it? Dam you MS I've got PBEM opponents waiting!! Any help would be appreciated.
John O'Reilly
I wouldn't use it, as far as I recall it is limited to 1 Meg attachments plus it only allows a 2 Meg account size. Get a netscape account, you can mail files up to three Megs and it can store 5 John
Juha Keratar
I use it, and haven't had any major problems. The 1 meg attachment limit is a pain though, if you play larger PBEM games (I don't), and Hotmail can't handle txt-attachments in any civilized fashion... I usually ask my opponents to zip the turns they send me, that helps. -Lunael
Marlow
Have your opponent zip his files. Text games files are just appended to the text of the e-mail message. You can cut and past the game file from the text of the e-mail, but it is a bit cumbersome.

Enoch
I am currently playing someone who is on Hotmail and it sucks as turns often get returned undelivered to me. It is a pain and slows things down.
SuperTed
Guys, ICQ email allows attachments as large as 3 MB. Also, you can transfer larger files directly using ICQ. If you are interested in ICQ, go here.

Herr Kruger
Hotmail is not such a pain as these chaps have made it out to be, at least if you keep your games small(er) and don't take on too many games. I don't get zipped files to my Hotmail I just save it as a Hotmail attachment to my PBEM folder called the same as the file I received and then open the folder and the .txt file is in there... it can cause you problems sometimes though. Leta
I use hotmail for PBEM without problems. To better manage it, use MSN Explorer. With it, you can handle the attachments properly and store the received e-mails in your hard disk. Also, with the MSN Messenger, you'll be notified when a new message arrives (very interesting to play quickly if you have the time). You can download both programs from Microsoft's page. For larger PBEM files, follow SuperTed advise and use icqmail.
