Paul 87 LX
Hey Why is it so hard to set a tank on fire. CMBB is my first game from BTF so I haven't played BO yet I played a scenario involving lots of tanks. My 88's destroyed 17 russian tanks. 7 abadoned 8 knocked out 2 on fire. Are russian tanks fire resistant. I know this is of topics but Shermans had a tendency to catch on fire really easy. Is this represented in BO. I'm a total newbie with CM games, but so far it ROCKS Paul
blackbellamy
that sounds about right if you want to, i believe you can target abandoned/wrecked vehicles, so if you really want to set them on fire, just keep plugging it
demoss
In fact, Shermans (yes, they're in CMBB too) do have a "burns easily" flag set. It's in there, and has been since CMBO.
Moon
IIRC, most of the Shermans used by the Russians were diesel-fueled, so they would be less likely to catch fire than the US version. But apart from that, what looks good on a movie screen (tanks ALWAYS being blown up when they're hit) isn't quite true in real life. In fact, catastrophic explosions are just that - catastrophic, and while they can happen (hit to ammo storage or similar), most tanks do not explode (or even burn) when they're taken out. Zarquon
BTW, which parts of a tank are inflammable at all? Fuel? OK. Ammunition? Should go BOOM, I suppose. Hydraulics oil? Are there any hydraulic systems in a WWII-era tank (besides gyrostablilizers in US tanks)? Anything else?
Andrew H.
The guns use hydraulics; the flaccid barrels you seen on many knocked out tanks, and on all knocked out tanks in this game, are a result of hydraulic fluid leaking out. I don't know if there's enough to cause a fire, though.
PantherG
Where you playing Korsuv strikes back (I think thats the name- Something like that)? I had an 88 that got 9 T34s and a KV1!
