What is a Lynx good for?

Recommended Posts

The unarmored Flak halftrucks are plain broken and shouldn't be used.

The Lynx is fully tracked, and pretty light. It is very swift.

The 250/9 comes with very few ammo, and is completely open. Very easy prey for small mortars or VT artillery. The halftrack also has worse going in bad ground.

The 234/1 is faster on roads, but slower in open ground, and it is party open.

But overall, the Lynx requires armor points, and that is why few people, including me, rarely buy them voluntarily.

Yeah, expouding on what RW said, if I happen upon an older scenario created before the general awareness of the problem with the flak truck, I'll open up the scenario and substitute the lynx for those trucks.

Well, you can bask in the obscurity in using the Lynx, which has a medium turret, the only German unit besides the Panzer IV (medium, too) that doesn't have slow or very slow turret speed. :cool:

Still, as others have mentioned they use the precious armor pts.

I've had fun w/ Lynx going on long flanking missions and devouring enemy halftrack columns (the AI's of course!), but how often can you pull that off vs. humans or at all.

It is also a reality issue with the Lynx, only 100 or so made IIRC.

Lynx = PzKw IIF, right?

They were typically issued as one platoon per tank battalion. (Subordinate to the battalion HQ.)

Then 100 of them would be enough for more than 10 armour divisions.

Cheers
