aka_tom_w
Has anyone seen it run? I think (I could be wrong) the 800 mHz TiBook is a dual boot machine. I am considering buying one used. I KNOW the 867 mHz TiBook WON'T run CMBB without the pyschadelic display (unplayable) probably because of the video drivers. Does anyone know anything about the 800 mHz TiBook? What is the FASTEST Mac Laptop that will run CMBB without any problems? Thanks -tom w
tar
I can run CMBB on my work's 800Mhz Ti-Book. It boots fine in 9.2.2 and runs CMBB great. CMBO also works, of course. Since my other choice is a 300MHz G3, the Ti-Book version just screams. I'm not sure if all of the Ti-Books had the same graphics card in them, though. I have the Rage Mobility with 32MB. The system profile information about the card I have is: PCI: ATI(AGP): +----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | | | Card Type : ATY,DDParent | | Card Name : ATY,CrownParent | | Card Model : ATY,RageM7 | | Vendor ID : 1002 | | Device ID : 4c57 | | ROM# : 113-XXXXX-119 | | Revision : 0 | | Card (Video) Memory : 32 MB | | | +----------------------------------------------------------------------+

I 'm pretty sure there is only one graphics card for the entire run/model line of the 800 mHz TiBook THANKS that would be my dream laptop -tom w
gibsonm
Hi, The 400, 500, 550, 667 and 800Mhz G4 PB's all use graphics cards which run CMBO and CMBB fine in OS 9.2.2. Its only the newer machines that either: 1. Don't boot into OS 9.x any more (12" and 17') or 2. Do boot into OS 9.x but have a bizarre colours courtesy of the graphics card (15") That the only reason while I'm hanging onto my 500Mhz PB even though I now have a 1Ghz PB. davidh
Yup, runs great on an 800 TiBook I just got. In fact, the graphics look better on the laptop than on my desktop machine (a 967 MHz with an nVidia GeForce MX video card with twice the memory). Go figure... I got the 800 at Smalldog Electronics, and recommend them highly.
CombinedArms
I've recommended Small Dog elsewhere and would also recommend them here. Great source for used Macs.
