Pascal DI FOLCO
I play pbem with 6-8 opponents. Usually, it works fine, but from time to time, for a period of some days, SOME of my opponents (not all of them !) receive "text" - that is the pbem file is "detached" into the message body.. It very seldom happens to me, but it does. It is not linked to opponent's machines, as it works/doesn't work/rework with any one given opponent, and is not a PC vs Mac issue (in fact my Mac opponents have no problem) It isn't linked to the .txt extension, it also happen with .zip ! Currently with two of my opponents it's awry since one week and I have to upload the files on ftp server and send them a link ... I didn't find any way in Outlook Express 5 to fix this through parameters/options.. Is that due to my ISP mail server getting buggy sometimes ? Can someone explain me what's going on, and if there any way to fix this ? Thanks ! kmead
Have them copy the CM "text" out of the email and into a new txt file. CM opens the txt file and you are set. Assuming of course that all the text made it into the email.

WWB
Way to fix it is to zip the files. While redwolf will come in here and go off on a tangent about how the files actually end up being larger for some mail protocol BS that is really immaterial, zipping works in most cases. Frenchy
I am one of those opponents that Pascal is talking about...it even imbeds the zip file into the message body...can't cut and past that. I believe it's a transient server issue since it doesn't happen all the time. Pascal - my move will come tonight!
demoss
Many email programs have a viewing option called something like "view attachments inline." You may wish to turn it off, but depending on the email program, you may just have to look harder for the attachment file instead.
Fate
This is exactly as demoss describes. There will be a setup somewhere in your mail program say as he described. It's pretty easy to find in older Netscape, under preferences/mail & newsgroups/compostion. There you have a choice of inline or as attachment.
