Infantry fighting in or behind bocage

Recommended Posts

I know that infantry trying to move through bocage under fire is toast. But what about infantry hunkered down in bocage. Does the bocage provide effective cover or simply fix the unit in place to get shot. Is there a best place to be in the bocage? Does a unit in bocage need a foxhole or can an attacker achieve advantageous cover by wedging units in bocage?

Can you be behind the bocage and looking and firing thorough it, or is it better to actually be lodged in the bocage itself?

I've never had a very clear notion of any of these questions and would much appreciate advice.
