US 82nd Airborne Vet in Dallas Airport

Recommended Posts

The guy was set up in front of one of the bookstores in the airport with his book "All the Way to Berlin." (or something similar).

The sign next to him said he was the 82nd's most decorated soldier. He was a platoon commander for most of the war. Didn't jump into Normandy because he was kept in Italy, but did make the jump into Holland.

Sounds like another Dick Winters, except this guy didn't have an HBO series about him, and so he isn't famous.

I bought one of his books, and he signed personalized it for me, though I haven't yet had time to get into it. I shook his hand and said it was a pleasure to meet him, which it was. If only I had read his book BEFORE meeting him, I might have had some interesting questions for him.

Anyway, if you happen to be in the Dallas airport, stop by and see him. I get the impression that he has been setting up there for some time in Terminal C. He's more than happy to talk.
