Kingfish
Looking for info on what Axis divisions were destroyed in the Tunisian Bridgehead, May '43. In his "History of the Second World War", B.H. Liddel Hart mentions the Axis losing 8 divisions, or around 150,000-170,000 troops. Can anyone tell me which of these divisions (or their remnants) were still on the line when the allies launched their final drive on Tunis: 10th Pz 15th Pz 21st Pz 90th Light 164th Light 999th Light 334th Infantry Division Von Manteuffel 'Superga' infantry 'Giovani Fascisti' infantry ‘La Spezia’ infantry ‘Pistoia’ infantry ‘Centauro’ Armored

Dook
The following website: Comando Supremo lists all the Italian units in Tunisia in 1943. They include all the ones you list plus a few more.

David I
Kingfish, I know quite abit about the HG. Interesting LW formation to be sure. Airforce Tank Divisions are the wave of the future! Soon everbody will want one. BTW there are a lot of pictures of HG members going into, or in, captivity at the end of the Tunisian Campaign. Lots of them ended up in Canada for the duration. SgtMuhammed
Yeah, the HG can be the bad guy in a lot of scenarios in the Med. Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, lots to choose from.
David I
Sgtgoody, And Poland and East Prussia and Silesia. For a Division formed relatively late in the war, it got around. It was earmarked for Normandy when the Destruction of Army Group Center in June/July 44 caused it to be sent to Poland instead. Michael Emrys
Elements of what would later become HGPPD were sent to Norway in April of 1940 also. Michael
David I
Emrys, Good call. They marked their vehicles with little Viking Ships afterwards. You can still see them in 1941 when the HG Flak Regiment rolled into Russia as part of Operation Barbarossa. DavidI
