meldorian
Hi! In both CMBO and especially CMBB I personally found the German tanks to be underpriced, compared to the allied ones. Not so much the real tanks, but Hetzers and Stugs IMHO were a sure way to win any armor-battle. Is this still the case in CMAK? Could anyone tell me, how much some of the tanks are costing? Pz VI G, Panther, Tiger, Stuart, Wolverine, Sherman, Chruchill, Stug, Hetzer?
flamingknives
Try putting a stug or a hetzer up against a thick-front Churchill and you start having problems, as those are immune to the 75mm/L48 from the front almost to point-blank range. In addition, they're not so good in close terrain, against infantry (both have a pitiful MG loadout, and precious little HE compared to a Sherman/Churchill) Add in cover arcs (to maintain turrets pointed in a given direction) and the lower turn rates, turreted tanks have a significant advantage over assault guns in any but the most open terrain.
meldorian
I know that, but thank you very much for pointing it out again. So, did the costs remain more or less the same or not?
Redwolf
The cost is pretty much like CMBB. But in CMAK you have a lot more vehicles that can kill the 80mm fronts. In CMBB the 80mm fronts were a problem because the T-34 76mm gun in CMBB couldn't penetrate them. Anyway, if concentrate on the armor duels so much and ignore infantry it is no wonder that tank destroyers are more cost effective than tanks.
flamingknives
StuGs are still 110-120pts, hetzers~100pts (in '45) Shermans start at 140 and go up to 200 for a 76mm Easy eight or Firefly. A thick Churchill is about 170pts.
meldorian
Ok, thanks. Concerning the value of Hetzers and Stugs, of course, you have to team them up with some self-propelled guns and a decent ammount of infantry. But if you do, they are very cost-efficient. IMHO, rediculously so. Looks like the same thing is true for CMAK, but I'll probably get the game nevertheless. BTW, how do the allies fare against the Panther in late '43 or early '44? Is it as bad as with the Russians? When do the British get Piats and the Firefly?
flamingknives
The British have the PIAT throughout Italy (July '43 onwards) but don't have the Firefly until late '44. They do, however, have a few nasty little extras such as the Hurricane IID (twin automatic 2pdrs) Plus the Panther costs over 100pts more than most Shermans.
