Spotters won't embark, why?

OK, whats up. Why can't I get a 2 man spotter team to embark a vehicle????? This has come up as a pain in the butt too many times. Why do they always have to be walking?

There are two types of artillery spotters - wire and radio. The radio team is equipped with a radio backpack and thus can be embarked on a vehicle. The wire teams are connected to the battery by a commo wire, and as they move they string the wire out. Thus they cannot ride in a vehicle, only walk.

Oh! Well isn't that interesting. Thats probably why they later invented wire laying vehicles.

Thanks, that clears up a lot. I imagine that applies to some HQs too that use wire?

No HQs use wire for communications in CM

Yeah, there should be a spw 250 that can lay wire.

Some HQ units, like Battalion HQ or sometimes Company HQs can't embark on certain vehicles because there are too many men in the unit. Some half tracks can only take on 5 or fewer people (teams) so some of the large HQ units won't embark on those vehicles.

Teams, in terms of transport, are 6 or fewer. This means that British motor squads (in CMAK) fit into team transport vehicles (Stuart kangeroos, Carriers)

The spotters won't embark because they are in training for the wire laying relay race in the 1944 battlefield olympics.
