John Kettler
After encountering two different German tank sites listing the Panzer IV/J as having the wholly unknown to me on this AFV (bear with me on spelling) Nahverteidigungswaffe (AKA Naverboogie) close defense weapon. That sent me to the CMBB Strategy Guide to see whether it was in the game, which was how I discovered that the Panzer IV/J wasn't listed at all. Is it missing from the game, too? If so, what a shame! Had some great clashes with them back in my CMBO days, to include whipping in on a pair of them with M5 Stuarts, killing them because their manually traversed turrets couldn't keep up with rapidly crossing targets. George MC
Hi John The Panzer IV/J is in CMBB, if I mind it starts to come in around 1944 - I've just uploaded MikeyD's excellent Panzer IV/J mods. Nice they are too Cheers fur noo George
John Kettler
George Mc, Thanks! I wonder, though, why it wasn't it what was supposed to be an exhaustive list of German AFVs in CMBB? Next time I fire up CMBB, I'll have to take a peek at the data for this tank and see whether the Naverboogie's in. David I
John, Oh yeah, it's there all right and has the Naverboogie thingy to boot. Down side from the Pz IVH is that it goes from a fast hydraulic turrent to a slow hand cranked turrent. DavidI
John Kettler
David I, I guess either it was left out of the CMBB Strategy Guide by oversight or by choice as a result of high similarity to the IV/H or maybe space limits. In reality, the IV/J was the German equivalent of what Suvorov called the "monkey model," i.e., a stripped down wartime producible tank without all the bells and whistles of one produced without wartime pressure. Appreciate your checking for me! Keep up the great mods! Regards, John Kettler
Kanonier Reichmann
Sounds like a similar comparison would be the Volkswagen Beetle "Standard" with the Volkswagen Beetle. I owned a "Standard" and it came without a fuel guage or a cover for the glovebox! Regards Jim R.
John Kettler
KR, Now, that's truly a bare bones model. Did the fuel tank have a dipstick or something? Regards, John Kettler
